  • Taking the Measure of DNA!

    Funded Jun 2, 2010

Thank you so much for providing funding for electrophoresis equipment for my students. I teach several Biology classes - from freshmen taking the basics to seniors who are taking AP Biology. I believe that it is very important for these kids to have hands on experience with scientific equipment before they are expected to use it in college.

My students have a lot of things going against them because we are a poor rural school, however, they are brilliant young people and they have the desire necessary to succeed. Thank you so much for allowing them to be exposed to current technology and continue to grow their knowledge base.

You are helping to train the next generation of scientists!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murphy

  • Electrifying DNA!

    Funded May 10, 2010

Thank you so much for the donations to our school. My students are brilliant and they need the appropriate tools to explore the many different aspects of science. They are excited about their materials and they can't wait to get the DNA samples so that we can begin working with the equipment. At this stage the children are excited just getting used to the equipment and learning how to use it.

Electrophoresis equipment will be something that they will be expected to understand when they get to college and I am thrilled that being able to use this equipment now will put them in a good position in college. I don't know if I can adequately express what it means to economically challenged students to be able to use expensive equipment. They may not start college with a bank account and a nice car - but they will have a storehouse of knowledge that, in the end, will serve them better.

Thank you so much for making this possible. I love my children and it makes me very proud to know that other people care for them too!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murphy

  • Hooked on Books!

    Funded Aug 23, 2010

Thank you so much for what you've done for my students. We have received the books and have begun using them. 'The kids are excited because these books cover a wide range of scientific interests. Most of my students can't afford their own computers so it's pretty important to them to be able to do independent research in much the same way as their classmates.

In addition, these books are so beautiful. The pages have beautiful bold illustrations and they are very thorough. As scientific guides, these books are excellent and I am thrilled wit them. Your contributions have made it possible for my students to see the width and depth of the world around them. We truly thank you for all that you've done for us. Your generosity is humbling and enlightening.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murphy

  • I'm Supposed To Do What With That!!!????

    Funded Dec 28, 2009

I don't have the words to use to thank you for your support of my students. The spectrophotometer and it's supporting materials have been a source of excitement for my students. They have been eagerly studying the experiments that we have planned and they are asking for more. It is this excitement that is making my class their favorite activity of the day. And so they learn. They learn because the learning is fun - not because it is expected of them.

I know that my students are facing great challenges as they enter college and the work force. It is my goal to make sure that they are not over faced by their opportunities. My students are talented and intelligent and I feel confident that they will make meaningful contributions to their communities and their country. Thank you for showing that you also believe in them. It is your faith in their abilities that matters so much to them.

We are grateful to you and we promise to work hard to earn your continued support.

    Thank You!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murphy

  • Don't Drink That Water!!

    Funded Nov 3, 2009

Thank you so much for your support of my students, our school, and our community. We live in a small community with little in the way of industry. The water quality testing equipment purchased through your generosity will help instill in my students the belief that although we are financially challenged, we are not without resources.

The river is important to our community both as a source of recreation and as the base of a large watershed. Because it supplies water to a lot of people, it is essential to maintain constant monitoring of its quality. It is an old axiom that things that matter get measured and improve. The testing equipment allows my students to take part in the preservation of this valuable resource. They are also enjoying the application of the scientific principles that they are learning in class.

Again, we appreciate your generosity. My students and I are getting to apply science for the benefit of our community - and we're having fun!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murphy

I teach in a poor, rural community. My students are awesome and extremely intelligent - they deserve the best education that I can give them. To do that I need your help. My school system cannot afford the science materials needed to prepare my kids for college.
