Classroom Rug - A Kindergarten Space for Learning
Funded Aug 15, 2022My little kindergarteners LOVE this rug! They were ecstatic when they first saw the classroom with the rug. This classroom rug has transformed how my students feel in the class. They love being able to gather for story time. My students also are freely able to move from their desks to the rug when they need to get closer to the board or to the words/numbers at the front of the class. If students finish early, they can borrow a book and sit on the rug to read or use their white boards to practice writing numbers, letters, or words.
I cannot express how thankful I am for the donations that funded my purchase of the rug. It has completely changed my kindergarten classroom and made it a more enjoyable learning environment.”

Connecting Inner City Students to the World via the Internet
Funded Oct 10, 2018When my students received their materials, they could barely contain their excitement. The students couldn't believe that we were lucky enough to receive four new laptops and mice to use with them! They were over the moon and couldn't wait to get their hands on the computers. Having these extra laptops in the classroom allow more of my students to be able to access the educational technology and programs we use every day. Often, my students do have computer or internet access at home, so having enough technology for them to use at school is incredibly helpful.
I cannot fully express how grateful I am for this donation.”

Funded Oct 2, 2017When my students received their materials, they could barely contain their excitement. The students couldn't believe that we were lucky enough to receive a class set of headphones and self-timers, a set of fun and educational reading games, and an iPad mini! They were over the moon and couldn't wait to get their hands on all of the new and exciting materials.
The headphones and the self-timers have been indispensable! Now my students are able to concentrate on their iReady lessons without hearing background noise from other students' lessons or my small group lessons. The self-timers have helped my students practice and hold themselves accountable for their reading fluency and accuracy.
However, as expected the reading games and the iPad are the class favorites. Once I taught the students to play the reading comprehension bingo games, they couldn't wait to start playing on their own. The iPad allows them to interact with reading material and games in new ways, not to mention allows them to keep a "journal" of sorts through the app Seesaw. They LOVE it!
I cannot fully express how grateful I am for this donation.”

Literacy Technology for Inner City Students!
Funded Oct 8, 2016I am so happy to be writing and updating you on how my classroom is putting their new Chromebooks to use! Again, I want to say thank you with all of my heart. It truly means the world to me that you all funded this project and I was able to get these materials for my students.
To say that my students LOVE these computers is an understatement. We use these computers daily, and though I try to make sure that each student gets a turn on the new computers, students still get upset if they have to use the "old computers". And I absolutely understand why. These Chromebooks are really pretty and are much faster than the school laptops that we also use.
When we use the computers, students are using two different programs. Primarily, the students use what is called iReady. This is a differentiated instructional program that students log in to and are able to complete reading lessons that are on their instructional level. This is incredibly important for students who are below second grade level because it gives them the opportunity to fill any knowledge gaps that they have. The other program that we use is called MyOn, where students can log in and read books on their reading level. MyOn has so many different books, levels, and genres that there is something for every student. This program is important to build students' reading fluency and comprehension.
These computers have truly made a difference in how I am able to bring the technological programs at use in my school district into my classroom.”
