  • Wibble Wobble Stools - Red

    Funded Dec 15, 2021

I am still gaining the benefits everyday of these wonderful red stools. It gives my class a happy moment when they know they have something extra special. It makes me smile daily to know we have them because of extremely kind people and I am able to show my students that being a kind person really does pay off.

I had 6 purple stools and my whole class really wanted them and when I told my kids that you had donated the money so they could get more they were screaming with glee. Every box I opened up was like Christmas morning . Every student has a stool now and they are able to focus much more on their work than wiggling.

We had a kindness challenge last month. Having your kindness to show to my students was a very real life example of how your kindness impacts us everyday! How they can also be kind everyday!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Erin

  • Class Carpet

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

I am still gaining the benefits everyday of this wonderful carpet. It gives my classroom a warm and inviting feel. It makes me smile daily to know I have it because of extremely kind people and I am able to show my students that being a kind person really does pay off.

It is a very versatile carpet and the kids are able to have number spots where they are able to be ready for a book. They can also have bee spots so they are ready for math lesson to watch new games being taught. It is also so big all my kids can lay down and read at Indiviationzed reading Time. During our below 0 days where we can't go outside which does happen for like a week at at time. Both classes can fit on it to watch a show during recess.

We had a kindness challenge last month. Having your kindness to show to my students was really very real life example, of how your kindness impacts us everyday! How they can also be kind everyday!”

  • Create and Problem Solve!

    Funded Mar 8, 2018

I just want to say THANKS again for your kind and generous donations. We have been able to use the pillow spots for the kids to have a squishy spot to sit on. They are really helping children remain quiet and focused on my teaching when they are using the pillows.

We are using the stem projects to build problem solving. Just the other day it was raining and we worked with them all during recess and I am pretty sure my kids could have worked for hours. They had no idea how much problem solving and teamwork they were doing and nobody had to tell them over and over to follow directions. They were so engaged in the learning. The math game for the smart board allows me to work either in whole class or small groups on the skills on the disk. I can't wait to see the continued impact those items can have on my students learning this year and in the future.”

  • Flannel For Life!

    Funded Dec 14, 2017

I am so grateful for our flannel board pieces. We are able to use them in many different ways. They are being used during math for intervention with working with numbers and counting 1 to 1. I They are able to be used during reading time as a center and to practice retelling different stories that we have read. The bright colors of the pieces keep the kids attention so much better than a piece of paper.

When we got the box the kids were so excited because had told them that the stuff inside was materials for us to share. Every time I pulled out a another story they would scream and squeal in delightment. It was like Christmas morning for them and me. :)

The best thing about these resources are they are so versatile. We can use them time and time again. There is no fading or prep. I can just pull out the materials and the kids know what to do. They are able to be self sufficient and successful learners. Thanks again for your generous donations!”

    Mrs. Erin

  • Kindergartners, Coding? You Bet!

    Funded Aug 31, 2017

Thank you so much for your extreme generosity. My students are in love with the Osmo software and are amazed everyday what they can do with it. Now that they understand how it works they are able to set it up mostly by themselves and be very productive and engaged the whole time we are working. The Coding software is really fun for the kids that get to teach another kid how it works rather than me teaching them which is double awesome to have student teachers. :) Sometimes I have heard several times Ms. Brooks look what I made him do.

I really believe the kids are most excited about being able to be successful every time they use the iPads and how much fun they are for them. I am excited to see what other ways we can use the other games besides the coding and drawing game. They also love watching their art go into the iPad with the Monster.

Every kid wants to spend time with the Osmo's - I am so glad I got two of them. I try to let just two kids play them at a time but the other kids would rather watch them work then play other stuff. It has been great to see them able to be helpers and guide each other rather than needing me. THANKS again for your kindness to all kids.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Erin

  • Build Play Learn!

    Funded Jul 12, 2017

Thank you again so much for these amazing toys. We are using them daily and sometimes multiple times a day. We use some of them to help build our fine motor skills when the kids come in first thing in the morning. Most of them are getting used during social stations and my students are having very few behavior problems due to having such great resources that they can easily share and there are no bad toys to play with.

When we got the toys and I showed them that some kind people donated to our class so they could have some amazing toys to play with they were just ecstatic - To see the HUGE box of TOYS! The kids are having a blast and I know they are problem solving, designing and trying and making mistakes and trying again. Nothing has to be perfect the first time. It is also really fun to see the kids able to work together and help each other be successful building with the different toys.

I plan to keep using them - hopefully they will last through the next several years. So from all of my students and myself - We want to say and HUGE THANK YOU!!!”

  • We need books!!!!!!

    Funded Jan 12, 2017

Thanks so much for your kindness. We are using these books daily for center time. Also when the students get done with there work they can also go to the library and reread there favorite books. Now that we have newer and better quality of books my students are able to focus and work the whole reading time at the center rather then getting bored with the less quality books. I also get to read books to my class multiple times a day and having these great resources makes for easy planning for me. There are several teachers who have come to barrow some of my new books as well. We all really appreciate your donations to building kids who love books!”

    With gratitude,

  • Re-Building the Basics

    Funded Dec 21, 2016

It has been amazing to see the children be able to gain a concrete understanding of numbers and how each number is represent. We are using the math racks to represent numbers. They are also able to see how our number system is build on 10's which is also allowing them the ability to see how teen numbers look with manipulative. We just recently started working on addition and subtraction story problems and they were able to use the math racks to represent the story problems on them.

Since this was my first project on donors choose and the kids had no idea what I had asked for but when it came I had them guess what was in our box and they were so excited that there was enough for each and every kid to have their own math rack and they have never had to share. Most things we don't have enough to do 1 to 1 so this was neat to see them be able to work independently and be accountable for each problem.

As I said we used them for addition and subtraction and we will continue to use them to help those kids who still need help building there basics of teen numbers. I am also going to put them in centers to help them review and continue skills we have learned. I am truly very grateful and lucky that you donated to my classroom, for all of us in K03 we say THANKS!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Erin

These rekenreks will allow me a lot of different uses. First we will just build our counting skills forwards and backwards. Then we can do mental math, what's missing, and a lot of other great activities on this amazing tool. We will definitely use these all year long, I can't wait to see my data change as a result of using the rehenreks. The kids will be so excited to have such a versatile instrument in our classroom. Once the kids understand how these work there will so many opportunities for learning. These will create a very tactile learning experience for my little mathematicians.
