Students with disabilities have preferred learning styles that often included visual guides and representations. For students with special needs, text books are often too hard to read or ideas are so abstract they just can't understand what's being read to them. The limited amount of pictures and captions are not enough to provide a true understanding of concepts covered in earth science and chemistry. iPads will offer students multiple ways to access curriculum that for some, would be too hard to learn otherwise. Free and paid subscriptions will give students the opportunity to learn at their ability and interest level. Video sites like YouTube gives them immediate access to various media. I will be able to ask my students to find examples of molecules or a solar eclipse and they will have multiple examples at the touch of a button.
