  • A George Orwell Education for Student Council Leadership Students

    Funded Dec 20, 2024

THANK YOU so much for providing these books for my Leadership Class. We are in the middle of reading them now and I cannot thank you enough. Particularly for including the Graphic Novels which are an important scaffold for my lower level readers.

Right now the kids are going through the book and selecting quotes that speak to them and listing character descriptions in groups. We read the book together aloud as a class every Friday and they are assigned a chapter per week at home.

We will be discussing the different types of political governments and contrasting those with our American form of Representative Democracy. I am also bringing in literary concepts like satire and allegory.

This is such a wonderful gift that I will use every year with my students. Thank you again”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wester

  • Futbol! Soccer! Help Our Kids Play During Pe!

    Funded Jan 2, 2024

My students are so happy to have brand new nets for our classroom instruction. The pictures we submitted are of them playing one of their favorite games; Four-Way Soccer. With these new materials my students have been able to create enough teams for a full game.

When we received the materials I had students go to the mail room to retrieve our boxes. They were so excited when I allowed them to open the packages and show the class what we received.

Next up, is hockey!! These nets are exactly what my classroom needs for all types of games, skills, and activities. Soccer, hockey, team handball, futsol, your generous contributions has helped us play them all!! Thank you again!”

  • Return to In-person School Bring Back Sports for Kids!

    Funded Oct 7, 2021

Thank you so much for the soccer net donations! We use these nets weekly for a variety of games and activities. Now we have enough nets to run multiple games that include all students. This week we are playing Team Handball and reviewing passing and shooting skills. The kids were so excited when they saw the new equipment and could not wait to set up the court.

We were also able to use the nets for a giant Premier soccer event where we hosted representatives from the top leagues as well as their mascots. We have so many great memories from this event, We are forever grateful Thank you!”

  • Minecraft Education Edition Compatible Computer

    Funded May 28, 2021

Thank you so much for the generous technology gift that allows my students to play Minecraft Education. During the long months of online learning using interactive video game education was the most motivating and effective. Meeting students where they are is key to engagement. Technology in the classroom in the 21st century is now essential and we thank you so much for this valuable contribution to our classroom.

Our new Minecraft Education compatible Device allows large screen projection at the front of the class so everyone can follow along in the game. It also allows both my live-in-class students as well as my at-home-quarantined students to participate simultaneously. With this new device the number of students who can participate in this fun online education has increased and we are able to play games that support math and STEAM design skills.

Students who have especially benefitted from this gift have been my English Language learners. Playing video games is an easy "language" for them to understand. They are essentially able to manipulate math and STEAM concepts without barriers. Watching the kids flourish has been such a joy and we are forever grateful.”

  • Electronic Tablet for Reading

    Funded Jan 14, 2012

Thank you so much for donating an electronic tablet for our classroom. Now that we have this device, students can access Acclerated Reader quickly and easily at their desks. Students are exited to use it to monitor their own reading and track their point totals. This tablet also allows for instantaneous grading and lesson planning and can be used inside and outside the classroom. With WiFi, students can use it anywhere on the school campus allowing for maximum mobility and accessibility.

Thank you again! We are so grateful!”

  • Phantom Tollbooth Class Set

    Funded Jan 9, 2012

Thank you so much for donating our classroom set of A Phantom Tollbooth. This book is a wonderful resource for learning about figurative language and literary styles. We have been conducting literature circles in class to discuss the book and explore our thoughts and ideas about the adventures the characters find themselves in. This is an example of fine children's literature that may not be as popular with students today but that kids absolutely love once they read it. I am very grateful you've provided this experience for my students.

    Thank you again!”

  • Document Camera

    Funded Dec 11, 2011

Thank you so much for donating a document camera to our classroom! My students and I were pleased to discover that this model comes with a little light that allows us to see the documents we post without having to fiddle with the light switches and window panes in our classroom. Today the students took turns going up to the document camera and solving math problems for all to see.

Students will be using it in the future to display projects they've made and zoom in to specific details on their paper. We are very happy to have a brand new piece of technology in the class and we will use this item every single day!”

  • Health & Fitness For Kids

    Funded Aug 30, 2010

Thank you so much for your donation of jump ropes for our 5th grade Health & Fitness Program. With so many children today living a sedentary life style, it becomes more and more important for schools to take a larger role in teaching young people what they need to do to stay healthy. At my school we have arranged for our kids to have a structured P.E. for one hour on Wednesdays and Thursdays and to have a volunteer certified trainer come in on Fridays for nutrition lectures and fitness training. We have also lobbied to keep the cafeteria from selling junk foods and have begun doing things like walk-a-thons for fundraisers.

My students are really enjoying the variety in their fitness work-outs, particularly the exercises they do using the jump ropes. Thank you again for your donation. Your generosity has made a huge impact on the health of my students.”

  • Flashdrives To Save/Print Our Computer Projects!

    Funded Oct 15, 2009

I'm writing to thank you sincerely for the generous donation of computer flash drives to my students. I work at a low-socio-economic minority school, and for my students, the use of technology is rare and often not sufficient. Your gift has allowed them to be able to save computer projects from school and be able to take these assignments with them so they can continue working on them at home, library, etc. and not have to depend/wait on going to the computer lab once a week to complete these assignments. They are now able to take their work with them! Before you're gift arrived, my students found it very difficult to fully compose, edit, and print assignments during a one hour period once a week in the computer lab. Our computer lab time was limited and students projects were often times discovered to have been deleted by other classes/students when we would return the following week. This was very discouraging for students who worked very hard on their assignments and struggled with typing/using the computer to create reports and who expected to be finishing up rather than starting from scratch.

My students and I thank you so much for your generosity. You really have provided us with a valuable gift for these children. Being computer literate is a necessity in this day and age and your gift helps ensure that these students will get the practice they need and build the skills they will need on a weekly bases.

    Thank You again”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wester
