The Write Stuff: Building Community Through Friendly Letters
Funded Feb 28, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations! The note cards are whimsical, fun, and inspiring. My students love to look through them to choose the perfect one to write a letter on. They have gained confidence in writing and are eager to participate.
The colored paper and envelopes give them another way to express themselves. They write and draw messages to friends and teachers. My students are gaining life-skills, such as writing proper letters to fit the occasion as well as addressing envelopes.
Most importantly, the note cards are building community and friendships throughout our building. My students are so excited to send and receive letters through our Eagle Mail system.”

Funded Sep 5, 2018Thank you so very much for supporting my students. These materials have helped organize my students by helping them have everything that they need to actively participate in their English Language Development time. My English learners know to grab their notebooks and folders before coming to work with me. It has become a routine that helps make transitions easier. My students are not searching for some notebook...they have the one that they need!
The pencils, expo markers, and highlighters help students participate. We need to practice the skills we are learning so using expo markers on a white board is a fun way to do that. We are always looking for patterns in our words or evidence from our reading passages and the highlighters add more excitement to the task. And pencils are a necessity that some students just do not have.
Thanks again for giving my students a great start to this school year!”

Funded Apr 12, 2018Thank you so much for funding these books. The students enjoyed reading them to prepare for the theater performance. There were many teachable, fun moments like learning how to read mores code, which the students loved!
We were able to read the book, using comprehension activities, to prepare for the theater performance. Some students kept saying, "Just like in the book" throughout the performance. Having prior knowledge really helped the students understand what was happening on stage which made it more engaging and meaningful. They were anticipating what was next with a lot of enthusiasm.
Thank you again for your generosity! It is truly appreciated.”

Inspiring the Arts through Theater
Funded Mar 27, 2018There are not enough words to express my gratitude for your donation which funded our theater trip to see Judy Moody & Stink and the Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Treasure Hunt! My students were mesmerized by the theater and its set. There was excitement with every gasp, laugh, and cheer. It was truly amazing to see my students reactions to the play as most have never been to a live theater show.
It was so special since there were many child actors in this production and a few of my students were so inspired to be one of them in the future. They can't wait to attend another performance in the future!
Thank you again for your generosity! It was a fun, inspiring, and meaningful field trip.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for funding the reshow workshop. My students enjoyed learning about acting. They learned about actor neutral and how to change your body to depict the characters they are playing. More specifically, they loved learning about Judy Moody and her "moods". The students were so engaged while acting out the emotions that were given.
The students were able to make meaningful connections. They brainstormed ideas for vacation spots and put together a short skit based on their locations. The students were so excited!
Thank you again for your generosity! My students were able to experience a wonderful workshop that made them even more excited to see a live theater production.”

Funded Feb 14, 2018Thank you for donating to this project. The Kleenex and hand sanitizer have been so helpful with the cold and flu season this year. So many runny noses! The Lysol cleaning wipes and air spray help us to clean the desks and rooms daily. These supplies help keep the germs from spreading!
The students enjoyed the snacks. We were able to have two afternoon snacks and one for a field trip. The kids said that they were so delicious! The toothbrushes and toothpaste were sent home after a unit on dental health. The students were excited to have new ones.
All these preventative measures help keep my students in school and learning! Every day truly does count....thank you!”

Funded Oct 3, 2017Thank you for donating to this project! The colored ink, laminating sheets, and paper cutter have helped make the phonics center fun and engaging. The highlighters and expo markers make learning phonics sounds and words interactive and meaningful.
My students match phonics patterns with colored picture cards to develop vocabulary, phonics skills, and reading. They are excited and engaged while participating in these phonics activities. They are learning many English sounds and the colored pictures are so engaging that my students want to participate. The lamination helps keep these activities in good shape so that they can be used all year long.
The highlighters make finding phonics patterns fun! My students love to read, find, and mark patterns that they find. The expo markers allow the students to practice on white boards over and over again!
Thank you again for your generosity! It truly makes a difference.”

Boosting Vocabulary with Current Events
Funded Sep 19, 2017Thank you so much for your generosity! My students love reading the Time for Kids magazine. They look forward to receiving them and can't wait to investigate the featured stories.
My students have been practicing their nonfiction reading skills by using the close read strategy. They read it more than once to dig deeper into the story to build comprehension. My students are also strengthening their vocabularies. As they encounter new words, they write them in journals for future reference.
Time for Kids has shared amazing articles that really have engaged my students. They were so excited about an article that focused on homework. We were able to discuss vocabulary such as pros, cons, and the prefix anti-. My students also had a debate about the topic.
Thank you again so much for this resource! It has added so much fun and learning to our class.”

Funded Jun 2, 2017These exciting graphic novels are really catching the attention of my third and fourth grade classes! They love comics and these are really motivating them to read independently, with partners, and in small groups. The students are learning that through their artwork they can add words in order to create stories that are not only told through the words, but through the pictures, too. These books have increased the joy of art, which is awesome as our school district has declared this the Year of the Arts! I am looking forward to my students gaining knowledge of graphic novels in order to learn a structure to create their own. These graphic novels have motivated my reluctant readers which is truly inspiring!”

Funded Dec 27, 2016Thank you so much for motivating my students to read more fluently! They were so excited to see the colored paper for our "Popcorn" Sight Word and Fluency Phrases booklets. We use the colored paper to color code the booklets as they move through Fry's Sight Word List. Each 100 words has a new booklet. The students are eager to start a new booklet. They say, "I can't wait to get my orange booklet!" "I can't wait to get my green booklet!" The students gain motivation when they near the end of the 100 words that they have been working on when they see their new booklets waiting for them. Some of my second graders are completing booklet 5, which means that they have mastered 500 sight words this year! I will continue to move my students through the booklets as they master the words. It's amazing to see them excited, motivated, and supportive of their peers, helping each other practice in order to pass through the booklets. The colored paper has brought an excitement to a somewhat repetitive task!”
