Dry Erase Boards for Virtual Meets
Funded Feb 11, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations! These dry erase boards and markers have made learning more engaging and fun for both virtual and in-person students.
My English Learners use the materials in many different ways. We use them to answer literacy questions, such as fact or opinion. They also use the materials to display their answers in Math. They get so excited when we count down to turn the whiteboards around to show their work in the cameras.
Thank you again for supporting my English Learners! The dry erase boards and markers ignited some new excitement as we navigate through these challenging times.”

Funded Sep 30, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations. My students were so thrilled to get the materials inside the red tote bags. The excitement on their faces was heartwarming.
The students received pencils, paper, crayons, folders and work packets to help keep them engaged in virtual learning. The brightly colored red totes were the perfect place to organize all the supplies.
The students were encouraged to keep their items inside the totes for easy accessibility. It seems to be working! The students are able to get the needed materials in a timely manner My students continue to be engaged and motivated!

Funded Aug 13, 2020Thank you so much for your generosity! My students love reading the Time for Kids magazine. They look forward to reading the isssues online and investigating the stories.
My English Learners have been practicing their nonfiction reading skills by reading it more than once to dig deeper into the story to build comprehension. My students are also strengthening their vocabularies, with the embedded glossaries and other digital resources that are included.
Time for Kids has shared amazing articles that really have engaged my students. The articles which focused on the election have really motivated my English Learners. It has helped them be more connected with current events.

Funded Aug 13, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations. The digital materials from Teachers Pay Teachers that I have been able to use with my English Learners have been transformative. My students are engaged and learning so much!
We have been using sight words and phonics google slides daily with our reading lessons. These fun digital slides allow the students to interact with the material in meaningful ways. They manipulate sounds, move letters to make words, and highlight spelling patterns. We have also been using digital materials to build my English Learners' vocabulary skills and comprehension.

Funded May 28, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations. My English Learners are excited to continue learning at home. The Brain Quest Workbooks for grade 3 are engaging. These resources help them practice skills and learn a few new ones. The notebooks encourage daily journal writings or short stories. The crayons help them add pictures or details to their writings in a special way. The playing cards have been beneficial for math games, such as additon, multiplication, greater than and less than, to name a few. We have also learned basic games for fun, such as Crazy 8 and Go Fish!
My English Learners were so thankful to see me and to receive these resources. They truly miss being at school learning with their peers and teachers. It was awesome to see them in person and encourage them to keep learning! I hope you know the impact that you have made! It is tremendous during this time of distance learning and uncertainty.”

My English Learners are doing well using this systematic approach. It provides concrete examples that help my students understand what is expected of them. The timelines allow the students more independence in their writing, too!

Vocabulary Building with Scholastic News
Funded Aug 20, 2019Thank you for your generous donation! My second grade English Learners look forward to reading their weekly Scholastic News every Friday. They love that they get to take them home with them to share with their families.
The Scholastic News helps support our content areas. We learn about animals and they enjoyed reading about the "Spooky Skeletons" of animals in our Scholastic News. It helps to build vocabulary in a fun and engaging way. Reading nonfiction stories is a focus of ours and these help support that type of reading.

Bridging Languages
Funded Aug 3, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations to our project. The students were so excited to use the Power Pens! The pens are so engaging and motivating for my English Learners. They are practicing letters sounds, specifically the vowels, which are so difficult for my students. They continue to try and frustration is minimal as it is done in such a fun way. My special education students enjoy using them as well. They are excited to build those foundational skills!
We use the white boards and markers daily, whether we are practicing our spelling words, writing sentences, or brainstorming ideas. They are a wonderful addition to our small group work.
Lastly, thank you for the Match It! Spanish-English activity sets. These are so helpful for my students who are new to the country or have limited English. By using the Spanish, they are able to expand their vocabulary by making meaningful connections. We are excited to see the students gain confidence!”

My English Learners are using the materials and gaining confidence in English sentence structure and vocabulary. They are engaged because the sentence frames guide them during the writing process. It gives them a concrete starting point in which to build paragraphs.
My newcomers are learning many important skills with the English Language Development Kits. These activities are meaningful and give support for their developing skills. They love to write on the activity cards and share what they have learned.
I'm so excited for my students to have the opportunity to become more proficient writers in English. These resources are giving them an excellent foundation!”
