  • Little Hands and Minds at Work

    Funded Aug 12, 2023

Our package arrived and my students were excited and curious to see what was inside. We opened the box and they were squealing with anticipation. After putting together the light table, I plugged it in and turned it on. The light was bright and the students faces lit up when we switched the colors. We also opened the manipulatives and they were placed in centers for exploration. We are very thankful and appreciative to you for funding our project.

The materials from " Little Hands and Minds at Work" have become a big hit.

Students are learning cooperation and motor skills using them. They are loving these new resources to learn as they play. Each student has an opportunity to use these materials daily. I love seeing them play with their classmates as they learn.

Again, thank your for your generosity. These students are still learning lots of skills they need to succeed. We are definitely still seeing impacts of COVID- 19 in the classroom and community. With these resources we can put our students

Little Hands and Minds to Work daily.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. G.

  • Work, Learn and Play!

    Funded Nov 2, 2022

My students were so excited to receive the materials provided by Donors Chose. We opened the boxes together. One students started clapping and they all joined in with excitement. When I opened the magnets they started jumping up and down.

We are using the resources daily in learning centers. They can work in small groups to build, explore and create. Often the students will ask me to take their picture after creating a bridge or structure. I am always thrilled to see them so engaged and actively learning through play.

Thank you for your commitment to education and supporting public schools.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. G.

  • Playing for Problem Solving!

    Funded Dec 9, 2016

There is a major crisis in education funding right now. Educators and administrators are all feeling the cuts more and more each year. It is because of donors like you, that my students can enjoy new and exciting materials. Thank you for investing in these kids. The students love the new barn and dollhouse for our discovery centers. They get very excited when they get the opportunity to explore and learn through play. These additions to our centers make it able for students to get to imagine and play while learning. You have truly made a difference by helping fund this project. Thank you again for giving my students these awesome learning materials.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. G.

Pretend/play is essential in the early childhood years. It encourages co-operation and problem solving skills. I want to encourage this by enhancing our pretend play centers. A doll/play house and barn will require the children to work together, create real-life scenarios, and solve problems both independently and together. These items will make our pretend play centers more enjoyable for the students and improve their overall school lives. They will be able to develop co-operration and problem-solving skills while having a good time. These skills that are developing during the pretend play will enhance the student 's behavior during regular class time and transitions for they will have developed these skills while playing cooperatively with their peers and practicing their problem solving skills so they can transfer them to real life situations. I plan to assess the impact of these items on students' learning through observations, questioning, and anecdotal notes.
