    Thank you so much for supporting my classroom. My students are special needs students. they love to draw, paint, cut and paste and color. The addition of the supplies you generously donated will help my classroom immensely. We always complete a new art project the first week of school. This year, we made gnomes. It was so nice to see each student use their own creativity and make their gnome their own! No two are alike. The students are now able to use their own imagination to create their own project in lieu of copying from my example. it is so exciting and fun to watch them grow both creatively and academically.

  • Read Around the World

    Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom books. My students love coming into my room and grabbing a new book to read. They are so excited. My students have little to no access to books at home, so this is a great opportunity for them to read a variety of books.

    I have students that have difficulty reading and get frustrated easily. With the new book selection, they can choose a book at their own independent reading level. They are excited to learn to read!

  • Writing: Not Just for Paper Anymore!

    This project has had such a positive impact on my students. When I take them out of their classes, they always ask "Can we do Math today?". My students cannot wait until they have Math with me. They are so excited to learn new things - all because of a table!

    When the table was first placed in my room, my students looked at it with puzzled faces and asked "What is that for?". When I explained what it was for, they were OK with it, but not very excited. Once we started to use it, they were hooked. I can now have them use different colors of markers for different steps of their math computation. This allows them to visually see clearer what they are doing or even what they did wrong!

    My students are so grateful that we now have this table. We will continue to use it daily! I cannot thank all those who contributed toward it's purchase!”

  • Start A Fire to Learning With Amazon Fire Tablets

    Thank you for donating to my project. I now have 4 Kindle Fire for Kids. I primarily use these for my Kindergarten and First grade students. They absolutely LOVE them and can't wait to use them. My students have the opportunity to enhance their skills by playing "games" on the Kindle. I have placed educational games on the Kindle where the students can go when we are finished with our classwork. They see it as "playing games", but they are really learning!

    In my groupings of students this year, I have several who are diagnosed with Autism. The Kindle's help to keep them engaged while learning!

Students learn better when they are actively engaged in a given lesson. With Special Education students, this is an even more challenging task. Students respond and retain information better when actively engaged in a lesson. Lessons can be presented in different ways, with larger fonts, colors, pictures, videos and movies. With the use of the projector, students will engage in interactive lessons, and they will have the opportunity to get out of their seats and become a part of the lesson. When students are engaged in the lesson, learning increases, student gain confidence, grades improve and test scores go up!
