Katherine Applegates incredible children's novel will be a wonderful addition to my students book collections for a lifetime. Having a paper back resource that can be highlighted and referred to at home will help our virtual scholars be more invested in our book club and be able to demonstrate their citation skills. Our students are already veracious readers, having read over 200 books in the past three weeks! I would like to encourage them to continue on their journey's and entering worlds unknown. The literary elements in "The One and Only Ivan" will help our 4th graders with simile, metaphor, personification and so much more! There's nothing like a 400 pound sliver back gorilla living in a circus mall to spur your imagination.
