I will be teaching students to use sewing machines as well as create handmade items for donation in our local community. It is an extension of our library maker space creation. We will meet once per week and students will decide whether to work on blankets or quilts for Project Linus or the local homeless shelter, or to crochet or loom knit hats and scarves for the homeless shelter or Operation Gratitude. The students will manage the project themselves once it is up and running, including making choices about which of the community services is most in need of their help.
