Funded Jan 15, 2017I can not thank you enough for the donation that you made to my project. Words can not express the impact that your donation made. You may think that Velcro and laminating sheets are not that exciting, but for a teacher it translates to leaps and bounds! The sky is the limit for students when a teacher is equipped with an ample supply of these items.
With your donation I was able to create a J.A.R.S. activity so the students could engage in "Community Day" independently. With being able to make the task cards students were knowledgeable of their role and the expectations of their role. With your donation I was also able to create "Behavior Basics" board, communication boards and first/then boards. The "Behavior Basics" board is used on a weekly basis where as a class we explore a new behavior. We read a social story as a group and then the rules for that behavior are posted on our "Behavior Basic" board. Students then earn tickets that are placed on the board for displaying the positive behavior. At the end of the day they can go to the Treasure Chest to select a prize. I was able to pair with our speech department to collaborate on first/then boards for our students to help them stay on task. For example, first work then they can select a preferred activity to engage in after they are finished with their work.
Our next project that I am working on is creating another J.A.R.S. activity to using during our snack time. Students will have responsibilities such as setting the mats, pass out the snacks, pass out the drinks, collect the trash and collect the mats. All of these projects could not have been possible without your donation.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Plitnick
