As the Reading Supervisor for our school, I am hoping to get a Magna Doodle and a pocket chart into every K - 2 classroom. Using the Magna Doodle, students will have an opportunity to practice letter formation and respond to reading through an interactive writing approach. As students prepare to share ideas, thoughts and/or messages, the Magna Doodle will serve as a model of what conventional spelling looks like and allow them to practice on a board that can be easily erased and recopied. Students love to have tools in their hands, allowing for authentic reading and writing opportunities in an engaging way! Pocket charts serve as a way to have children physically move letters, words, and/or sentences as they practice reading. The more modes of learning we can include in a lesson (visual, auditory and kinesthetic), the more success students will experience.
