Graphic Novels for 3rd Grade Readers
Funded Dec 1, 2022Thank you so much for adding these graphic novels to my classroom library! Graphic novels and book sets, such as these, have been some of them most successful tools for engaging readers throughout the school year.
These books will appeal to a variety of interests and because they are book series they will encourage more reading.”

Funded Nov 29, 2022This is beyond words. I am so inspired that ONE donor could fund our whole class project! You are amazing and your generosity will not be forgotten.
These materials will benefit students for the whole school year, as well as future 3rd graders in my class. I look forward to unpacking and sharing these resources with my students (and sharing pictures too).”

Raise Salmon Fry and Learn about Local Watershed
Funded Jun 6, 2022Our new water chiller is working hard right now to keep our baby salmon (alevins) alive and happy. Without the water chiller the salmon tank would be too warm, causing disease and infection to spread amongst the young salmon (and likely their deaths).
Instead, we have had the wonderful opportunity to observe these salmon as they grow and change. First as eggs brought for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife as part of their Salmon Education Program. After about a 9 days the eggs began to hatch. With each new hatchling students' excitement and wonder continued to grow.
All of the salmon have now hatched (save for a handful that did not make it) and are evolving into alevins. Coming back from this week long break, the first thing students wanted to do when they arrived in the room was to check on our salmon. Every day brings new discoveries and more questions. Thank you for your part in supporting the young scientists as their curiousity and interests in the natural world continues to swell and grow.”

Tools for an Effective Classroom Environment
Funded Nov 23, 2022Thank you for your incredibly generous contributions. I did not imagine this project could be funded in one day! These resources will be put to use immediately in my classroom.
From the ocean-themed light covers (that connect with our current study of the ocean), to the grid-lined whiteboards and markers (which we've already run out of!?), to the beanbag chair upgrade for our calming corner, students will feel the impact of your donations.”

High Interest Classroom Library
Funded May 4, 2021The books donated to our classroom have had an immense impact on readers. Students have access to a diverse range of high-interest books to keep them motivated through independent reading times.
Everyday readers have 30 continuous minutes to read choice books at their reading levels. Having books for the diversity of reading levels that are also engaging is a challenge for all teachers. Thankfully, we have had lots to choose from this year.
The most popular books from this project have definitely been the Captain Underpants series, which appeals to a variety of readers. I also have a number of students enthusiastic about science who have found that the mid-level nonfiction books are perfect for their independent reading.
Thank you again for everyone who was able to participate in this fundraising project.”
