I am always looking for new and creative ways to keep my students engaged in learning activities. I have realized that the better my room is setup to address sensory needs the more success I see with my students. Creating a work space that caters to my student's movement and sensory needs is very important! I realized that with many of my students, I spend a lot of time helping them get their bodies ready to learn. My students often are tipping their chairs (which is unsafe!), moving and wiggling their bodies and grabbing at items on the table and around the room. Sometimes it can be so difficult to sit and attend to their work. My students need safe and appropriate way to self regulate their bodies so they can focus on the learning activities. Using Hokki stools will give my students a fun and safe way self regulate without disrupting the activity or their peers.
