Personal Narratives Come Alive with Digital Storytelling
Funded Aug 29, 2017Thank you very much for your generous donation! My students were very excited when they first saw the Mac-book. Students are very exited when technology is available. They are leaning about character through technology videos. Usually kids are more inclined to pay attention, learn the lesson, and be involved in the process of the lesson when videos are involved.
We are able to use our mac book to make videos that have to do with character. Then we show other students the videos that were created to model behavior that is more appropriate. Our older students love to act and watch themselves in the videos. The shy students make videos with puppets that will show only the puppets. Also we use an app that creates videos with pictures and the student's voice only.
This opportunity to be able to have this the technology available to create videos that explain how we should behave really helps students that sometimes don't especially those who only hear the TV and video games at home. Our students appreciated this computer and had the opportunity to experience that others show their kindness with donating this for us.
We are truly appreciative of your generosity. Thank you for all that you do for my second graders.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Sharmela

Funded Oct 20, 2017The students and I thank you for your kindness and generosity in supporting our classroom with iMac! The iMac have allowed my students and I to access from the Internet, many educational activities and lessons to make learning more interesting, differentiated to each student's needs, and fun!
For example, I have been able to provide math word problems that are more challenging for students who are good problem solvers. For those who need more support, I have been able to find problems that are more basic.
While teaching a science lesson on the Weather, I was able to differentiate learning. For my students who are not yet reading, I provided "Read to Me" books that read to my students during Independent Reading. After students were finished listening to the book being read aloud independently, the students were able to draw and label their picture of the different types of weather. For those students who know how to read well, I provided a book where students read about the weather and then answered questions on their own. I was able to provide educational activities about the weather that met each student's learning needs -- allowing everyone to experience success and learn about the weather.
The iMac have also allowed me to access educational videos on various topics to bring learning to life. I have used them to provide videos on shapes, money, and time for math. For reading, I have accessed videos of people reading stories, like "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" aloud. For P.E., students have been able to follow the exercises from "Go Noodle."
Thank you for generously providing an invaluable tool to our classroom. Because of you, learning is more powerful as lessons are differentiated to each student's needs. You have also brought in a wealth of information to improve lessons and to make learning more joyful and meaningful. THANK YOU for caring about public school children who are often disadvantaged. You have made a VERY positive impact on the lives of these children as they develop good habits that will contribute to their educational success. You are MOST appreciated!”

Funded Aug 29, 2017Thank you so much for all your generous donations for my students. When the students saw the boxes for Gaiam Yoga Ball they were shocked and surprised. They were curious how the Yoga Ball were going to work and if they would be able to stay seated in them. This was an opportunity to show them what they could do!
The students are doing a great job staying in the seats and being active while they are in group. These comfortable Gaiam Yoga Ball have allowed the students to move and adjust without flying all over the room or getting up and distracting the others students in the room at that time.
Students in other classrooms now come in to my classroom and look forward to having the alternative seating option. It has created a a positive reaction and students who are using the yoga balls are able to focus energy on their work rather than on personal projects or interruptions.
Thank you again for all of your support and the positive impact your donation has made on the classroom.”
