Independent Readers!
Funded Feb 9, 2022The storage pockets have helped to keep my students work and books of interest organized at their seats. My students love that they can pick any early readers book—with high-interest subjects that provide tons of sight-word practice to read during choice time! It has been important that my students have had books with familiar sight words and easy text have helped them build confidence and a love of reading independently. Your generosity gave my students a chance to build their reading comprehension and fluency.”

Funded Sep 24, 2021The stand and write magnetic board I was a great way for students to work together in a station and interact with letters, sight words, numbers and mathematical concepts. They were excited to use the station materials to build sight words and number sentences together. They take turns checking each their sight words as they use the lowercase letters to build them. They also use the pictures cards to count the amount of items in their number sentence. This station is appropriate for their size and can be used daily within the classroom. I added a spinning wheel with sight words and they have to write sentences on the two sided board. We thank you again and appreciate your support!”

Funded Aug 25, 2021Icy students were amazed that a trampoline transformed learning into a fun activity in my classroom. It definitely increased engagement and movement in our day. It has been used as a positive reward for students engaged and an added safe space for students to sit and read during choice time. We will used it to celebrate students answering questions or sharing good news during our morning and afternoon meetings. Adding movement to our lessons each day increased brain function and heart rates! I am also asking for sanitizing wipes to help keep the handle and mat clean. We added a spinning wheel with sight words and letters for students to read and then jump to the sounds or jump and make a sentence. We thank you again for all of your support!”

Play and Learning the Fun Way!
Funded Aug 18, 2021My students loved using the familiar board games to help them practice letter and number recognition, counting and sight words while playing in cooperative groups! Using flash cards and rote memorization can become boring and not very engaging for children. I was blue to modify the games to fun literacy and math activities that kept way students engaged and practicing concrete skills in a way that they want to engage with every day. We took sight words and letter and used Connect Four to take turns reading the card and playing. Lucky Duck had letters and numbers on them that students used to match. Go Fish turned into a fishing game with sight words and letters to read. Next we will learn to implement the card games into learning wars!!!”

Funded Oct 28, 2020Thank you to everyone that made the donation of a document camera a success for my students. Each day we write, read and use manipulative counters to help us learn. Being able to project what I am writing and reading with a clear image helps guide my students through the learning process visually.
The document camera was used to project live images over the internet class platform. They were able to follow along as I showed them the proper writing formation for letters. They were also able to watch my finger track words during read aloud while using the pictures as guides. My students were able to watch me model how to solve math problems on my whiteboard. Having a visual guide on the virtual learning platform makes connecting to students as easy as I can get.”

Funded Dec 15, 2019Your donation to our classroom has allowed my students to use math manipulatives each day! In one station students use the ten frame dice and math trays to create number sentences and then challenge their partner to identify the parts and whole of the number sentence and write it. The kids are using different counters to make collections and practice math fluency. In another station the students are independently playing a counting board game that is fun and engaging! You helped to make math practice an activity that my students look forward to each day. Rain days with indoor recess are welcomed in our class because they know they can use the activities too!”

Leveled Interest Libraries for Independent Reading
Funded Oct 14, 2019Your donation has given my students a special library just for them! They can choose books to read independently with different topics that interest them. These books will make them confident learners because they are on their reading levels. As my students pick out books to read they were excited to see sight words that they have learned. One of my students picked a book and said she wasn't sure how to read a lot of books yet. As she explored the book and found that she knew words on each page, she yelled " I can read this all by myself!". She and many of my students feel empowered to know that there are books just for them! Some of my students also take turns reading to the whole class. They love sharing their stories (often mimicking their teachers voice) to the class.”

Funded Aug 30, 2018Your donation has given my students another way to practice using manipulative's to count, create patterns and strengthen motor skills. We have explored using the buttons to create and extend patterns. The letter tracing sheets are awesome ways for them to practice their letter formations.
When the students first saw the table they were curious. They have had many opportunities to use the manipulative center. They practice sorting the manipulative's when cleaning up. We have recently transformed our classroom into a grocery store. When we were planning ways to design our class, one student suggested turning the light table into the meat department. It was very creative how they filled the table with cotton balls to represent the "ice". The they practice sorting and packaging the different meats on the table. I am excited to see through different themes how the students will continue to incorporate the light table and its many uses into our learning and exploring.”
