  • The Real World Book Club

    Funded Oct 20, 2020

Thank you so much for helping me reach my goal of getting several class sets of these amazing YA books.

My advisory and the many other students who will benefit from these books will be forever grateful. This work would be so much more difficult to do without your help!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fichman

  • Computers Needed for Middle School STEM and Computer Science Education

    Funded Aug 27, 2019

I can't even begin to express how thankful my students and I are for the donated computers. As the age of technology continues, the need for up-to-date technology in the classroom becomes even more important. Having dedicated laptops that students can access at any point has become so useful!

Whether being used for coding, 3D modeling, research, writing papers, creating websites or presentations, the students are taking full advantage of having these computers! It's truly amazing how much the students are capable of when they have the world at their fingertips. They learn from and access technology at a much faster rate than I certainly did.

Thank you again for helping make their education better. They are truly on the fast-track to technology-driven world!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fichman

  • Growing as a Science Teacher

    Funded Nov 28, 2018

Thank you so much for helping support my professional development. Attending the National Science Teaching Association conference in St. Louis provided me a multitude of opportunities.

While there, I learned about ways to engage students in new modeling techniques related to earth science. I was able to learn about other cool trips for teachers, one of which might take me to Peru and allow me to research insects and focus on social and emotional learning. Another highlight was learning a lot about ways to engage minority students (especially females) in STEM.

I would not have had this opportunity if it were not for your generosity and kindness!

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fichman

Over the last few years, our school has been pushing students to engage in computer science education. As many know, becoming computer literate is an incredibly important skill for our kids and for the future. We've been developing curriculum that directly links these computational thinking skills to science content. For example, our students will begin coding a game focused on resource extraction, and will create 3D models that will be printed from a 3D printer. To help keep engagement high, we really need more computers so that each student can explore and learn at their own pace. The more access to resources, the stronger their skills will become!
