Comfy Flexible Seating to Expand Our Imaginations!
Funded Jan 28, 2017Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. My students really enjoy getting the opportunity to move around the classroom. So they were so excited to receive the bean bags, wobble chairs and cushions. The flexible seating has provided an alternate space for the students to work.
During our time in Science and Social Studies, the students spend a lot of time working in small groups. Many times the group work goes beyond the desk and the flexible seating makes it so students are more comfortable working away from their desk. It also provides a cue for me so I can tell where one group begins and another ends.
Their favorite use for this new seating is how it gives them a cozy place to read during read to self. I have found that it has helped many of my students to stay more engaged during this time. Since there aren't enough for everyone to have one every time; it has created an incentive for students to show their personal best so they are given the opportunity to choose first.
My students are wrapping up Disaster Days, where small groups travel around the United States learning about natural disasters. Again those bean bags make it more fun to get down to business in their small groups. Thank you again for your contribution to the kids.”
