The use of calculators in my new Algebra class will have a tremendous effect on student learning on a daily basis. The district I serve is in such a high needs area that they have been qualified to give free and reduced-price lunch to 100% of the students. If the students cannot afford lunch, most certainly a calculator will not be a priority for their families. These calculators will be used daily by students. Quite frankly, if I don't get these calculators, I do not know how we will get through the requirements that will prepare them for college.
