  • Hands-on Learning for Building Math Skills

    Funded Feb 12, 2025

I am overwhelmed with gratitude for your kindness and generosity in supporting my classroom through DonorsChoose. Your contribution has provided my students with essential math materials, including number flashcards and math puzzles, which are already making a significant impact on their learning.

As a teacher working with students with disabilities, I strive every day to create an engaging and supportive environment where my students can thrive. Math can be a challenging subject for many of them, and having hands-on, interactive resources helps bring numbers to life in a way that traditional methods cannot. The flashcards are strengthening their number recognition and fluency, while the puzzles encourage problem-solving skills and make learning fun and accessible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Carabajal

  • De Escalate Behaviors and Keep Students Safe From Self Harm

    Funded Nov 18, 2024

Beyond the tangible impact of these sensory materials, your generosity has also provided my students with something just as important—hope. They now know that there are kind and compassionate people who want to help them thrive. Your support shows them that they are valued, that their needs matter, and that they are capable of achieving great things when given the right tools and encouragement.

On behalf of my students, their families, and myself, I sincerely thank you for making a meaningful difference in our classroom. Your kindness has created an inclusive, nurturing environment where every student can succeed. We are so grateful for your generosity and hope you know the lasting impact you have made.”

    Funded Nov 18, 2024

I am overwhelmed with gratitude as I write this note to thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support in funding our Sensory Break Materials project through DonorsChoose. Because of your incredible contributions, my students now have access to essential sensory tools such as fidgets, squishies, and other calming materials that will make a tremendous difference in their daily learning experiences.

In our classroom, we serve an amazing group of students with diverse abilities, many of whom experience sensory processing challenges. For these students, navigating a typical school day can sometimes feel overwhelming.”

  • Whole Group Learning Experience for SPED PreK

    Funded Jan 3, 2024

Thank you all so much for your kindness and generosity in supporting our students. These resources were shared with other classrooms within our Special education PreK classrooms, just like mine. These have been really useful during whole group instruction and allowing Teachers to engage their students. Our students have been engaged and made it so much easier to interact with the students and to model as we are teaching at the smartboard. Thank you once again, these resources wil last for many years and be of great use for many, many students.”

A child with autism typically has severe speech and language disabilities. Undesired behaviors such as screaming, hitting, crying and self injury typically decrease with the use of an effective, immediate, universal means of communication. The iPads and the software available with apps will provide a universal means of communication. The communication books they now carry have picture icons often times becoming lost or destroyed. Replacing icons takes a lot of time and resources delaying the ability of the student to tell us what they need or want. The use of electronic and or picture icons have been effective with developing oral communication skills. The families of my students become ecstatic when their son or daughter are finally able to tell them what they want or how they feel. They no longer have to play 20 questions or see their child tantrum due to their inability to express themselves effectively.
