I would like to have a flexible seating alphabet area rug for my kindergarten class. I would like to have something with multiple options for my students' ongoing learning needs. At ages 5-6, children are still learning personal boundaries and personal space. Having this area rug would provide visual/spatial awareness for every individual student. The flexible seating arrangement would allow me to make seating assignments as needed to best meet the needs of my students. With the letters of the alphabet, colors, and shapes, the area rug would also be a fun way to both review concepts and play games especially on rainy days. I am also hoping to use the area rug as a behavior management tool. In Kindergarten my students are still learning boundaries and I feel that this particular rug will best fit their needs. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) is a great way to develop critical thinking skills, visual/spatial perception, geometry as well as amazing creativity. I think the students would benefit from using the Magna-Tiles Master Set with the magnetic tiles to build and create open ended structures.
