I will keep a library of diverse books in my classroom and use them for reading groups. When I see a child make a connection with a book I will lend the book out so they can read it at home. This will continue to happen through out the school year in the hopes that as they are learning to read they are making cultural connections. The hidden impact will be in the improvement in their reading as they will be reading books appropriate for their current reading levels. The classroom library will have to have different reading levels that represent their current levels and future levels of reading so that they are challenged and improve their reading skills.
