  • Cozy Chats

    Funded Sep 8, 2021

The students were so excited to have the area carpet to sit on while they interacted with one another and also while they played some games. The motivational posters are hanging in different areas of my classroom as well as hanging in the hallway. The students will often reflect when reading the sayings. We will use them to complete some journaling activities throughout the school year. The books are a wonderful addition for my Early Child Development class. We are completing several books studies so that the students will rate a book and write 2 sentences as to the "life lesson" of the story and how it relates to our class.

Thank you so much for believing in my students and the classes were they are learning to become productive adults, parents and students.”

    With gratitude,

  • Sharing and Learning

    Funded Aug 24, 2021

Wow! How exciting to have the materials to create a cozy area within the classroom for discussions. We will be discussing some sensitive topics in our Adult Education/Parenting class and having a comfortable area in the classroom will allow the students to feels safe and motivated to share as well as listen.

Often times, students feel that the classroom is an institution verses a place where they want to learn and share. I believe that this area of the classroom will be utilized on a daily basis and will lead to many conversations that will increase the level of learning.”

  • Spicing Up the Cooking Class

    Funded Aug 17, 2021

I wish you were in the classroom as students walked into the kitchen area and realized that we had spices to cook. Some of the students were so excited thinking of the dishes that they could make and other students seemed overwhelmed since they had never cooked or used any type of spice.

They are so excited for the healthy snacks that they can have when they need a little extra something on those busy morning. New moms are busy taking care of their baby and often forget to take the time to have something nutritious that can help when trying to complete classwork.”

  • Stamp on Hybrid Learning

    Funded May 17, 2021

Wow! What a year this has been. My students have learned and grown so much in the last year. They have grow in their math skills, but they have grown even more through finding appreciation in getting the supplies that we are able to use in the classroom as well as in our hybrid schedule.

We have had the opportunity to work in small groups through the use of task cards.

The students could reuse the task cards and pass them to others at their table group while discussing how to solve the problems. This is much more interactive than simply completing a worksheet.

I want to let you know how much we appreciate your generosity for the supplies that make our classroom a fun and rewarding experience.”

  • Moving and Masking

    Funded Feb 27, 2021

Wow! What an year this has been. My students returned to school in a hybrid schedule and with very strict protocols for health and safety. Normally we have a very interactive activity in order to celebrate Pi day. This year had to be different, but I also wanted it to be fun and motivation. The cloth masks along with the fabric markers were a big hit. The students made their own face masks and decorated with math symbols or other items that represented themselves.

After experiencing the excitement in the room, I will need to evaluate the types of activities that we have as we move forward into the next school year. Change can be hard, but also very rewarding. My students learned and grew as individuals in this crazy school year.

I want to let you know how much we appreciate your generosity for the supplies that make our classroom a fun and rewarding experience.”

  • Engage the Brain with Chess Moves

    Funded Feb 16, 2021

Wow! What an year this has been. My students have learned and grown so much in the last year. They have grow in their math skills, but they have grown even more through finding appreciation in getting the supplies that we are able to use in the classroom as well as in our hybrid schedule.

We have had the opportunity to practice learning the game of chess in the digital world and having the chess boards in the class room the students can practice with their friends in person. It is interesting how the experience is different for the students although it is the same concept with the same rules to play the game.

I want to let you know how much we appreciate your generosity for the supplies that make our classroom a fun and rewarding experience.”

  • Masking and Moving

    Funded Feb 10, 2021

Thank you, thank you and thank you. My students are so excited to have the new soccer balls! They quietly did their work in class so that they would have the opportunity to use the equipment during their morning break. It is amazing the motivation that a couple of soccer balls can bring to an entire classroom of students. I requested the soccer balls as a way to encourage the students to get their bodies moving. I didn't realize how much they wanted to be moving in a productive way.

We are excited to start making the masks. Since I'm waiting on another project to be funded so that we have enough masks for everyone. We are patiently waiting to make the masks together as group. The students are already planning their designs and making adjustments when they see a friends design. The extra time for planning has helped in the creativity process.

Thank you again for supporting students in a classroom that you have never seen. The support means so much to me and my students!”

  • Movement Equals Learning

    Funded Jan 13, 2021

I wish you could see the excitement that the student had when they realized that we had soccer balls! We had soccer nets, but no soccer balls.

It is so exciting to watch them play and interact with one another between classes during their break. They start discussing teams for the next time that they will be at school since they are in school only 2 or 3 days a week due to our Hybrid schedule.

Everything about this school year has been strange, so seeing them act like middle school students is so rewarding.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sandy Scott

  • Sanitized Equals Safety

    Funded Nov 17, 2020

During this time of uncertainty with the pandemic, the students are expected to take care of sanitizing all the items that they use. We have spray bottles with sanitizing liquid, but it is difficult to use on smaller items that are used by the students in the classroom. The sanitizing wipes are so much easier to use on small items such as calculators, expo markers and colored pencils.

Since the students are attending school on a hybrid model, which means in person just two days per week, they need supplies at home and at school. Often I need to give them the necessary supplies such as Expo markers.

Students are expected to complete school work five days per week, but again, supplies are often left at school or at home so they need extra copies. I find that having a printer in the the classroom is ideal for making the extra copies. It also means that I have made more copies on my printer then I had to in the past.

I realize that these seem like such small items, but the joy and comfort that they bring to the classroom is unmeasurable. Thank you so much for caring about a teacher and students that you may never meet.”

    Mrs. Sandy Scott

  • See Me as a Mathematician

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

My materials arrived today and I'm so excited. With the new Covid regulations we need calculators that won't be shared by students when we return to school in a hybrid model. The books will be wonderful to incorporated into the lessons. Middle school students will say it's "corny" to have a book read to them, but in actuality, they love it and look forward to the day that I read to them.

I love the visuals of the books that have models that fold out as well as a variety of representations of very large numbers. This is an especially hard concept for students to picture, so having a variety of models will create a foundation for the students.

Thank you again for your generous support. This school year is strange and having the new items is very exciting for my students and myself.”

I work with 6th - 8th graders who often doubt their mathematical abilities which is common with this age group. I want to increase their confidence in their own ability through positive experiences with math.
