  • Pickle Ball Club

    Funded May 21, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting my students and my classroom. My students had never heard of Pickleball and in fact had not spent much time outdoors. We started by taking walks through the neighborhood. We visited the neighborhood park and learned about the different opportunities for activities in the area. Having the materials to play Pickleball which included the net, the paddles and balls is such a huge opportunity for my students. This is an activity that they will be able to share with members of their own families. Thank you again for your support.”

  • Warmth and Snacks

    Funded Feb 14, 2022

We were so excited to receive the scarves and have used them for the students when going on our walks and also for the babies when they want something to cuddle.

The knives are a high quality and the students love to use them in our cooking projects. I am uncertain if the students or other teachers were more excited about the new knives.

Healthy and delicious snacks are a benefit to both the students and their children. When the students need just a little something extra to have the energy to get through the rest of the class, the snacks are just perfect. It is also a learning opportunity since they are healthy snacks verses just eating the quick candy or cookie.

Thank you so much for your generosity to help my students get what they need to make the school day better and more enjoyable.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sandy Scott

  • Crafting to Success

    Funded Dec 28, 2021

Thank you so much for supporting my child development classroom. We have been using the supplies to create fun crafts. The students learn so much when participating in a craft project verses just seeing or hearing about a project. We discuss the benefits for a child doing the project and incorporate a lot child development terms in our discussions.

We have made paper plate animals that correspond with books that we are reading in class. The students also made valentine wreaths and they were surprised at the differences in the finished projects since they were all given the same materials to begin the project.

Through the crafts the students have a better understanding of child development and the differences between learning styles. I appreciate your belief in my students and my classroom. Words can not express my heart-felt thanks.”

  • Understanding Money Creates Stability in the Community

    Funded Nov 21, 2021

Being a new school, the students were uncertain about taking a personal finance class. As we begin the second semester, the students are so excited to join my class and learn about money, saving, taxes, investing and planning for their future.

I am using portions of the books to create activities, develop thought provoking questions and lead in the class in open discussions. Many students feel overwhelmed when given a book to read, but when you ask for them to find information from one chapter, it becomes a very doable activity.

I like having a variety of books for the students and the activities that I plan since everyone can relate to different writing styles. I especially love having the board games. If you want teenagers to engage in conversation, then just play some board games. It is amazing to listen to the topics that are discussed when we are just playing a game.

Thank you so much for your support of my students. I don't have the words to express my appreciation.”

  • Financial Knowledge Helps Build a Strong Community

    Funded Nov 15, 2021

My students were so excited when the new books arrived and they started flipping through the books to find the information that was interesting to them. They have stated that they can't wait to be able to use the resources and learn more information about their financial future.

We are learning and experiencing a growth in knowledge and a better understanding of finances. They come to class talking about what they have shared with their family members and they seem to have a strong desire to learn more since they believe that money is the resource that they need for success in life.

Thank you again for your support of my students and the resources that will empower them to be meaningful members of our community.”

  • Love of Reading and Books

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

We have been reading the books in our child development class and we are so excited to be starting an entire project using the book "The Polar Express". The students need time to enjoy reading and listening to stories so that they can share this joy and love of reading with their own children as well as while working in a child care facility.

The materials helped the students develop a love of children's literature as well as an opportunity for them to develop their own stories. We have used the craft items to make several different holiday items and increase the creativity in the students.

Thank you so much for your kindness, donation and for supporting students and their learning process.”

  • Financial Literacy in the Real World

    Funded Sep 14, 2021

Having books that don't look like text books, but that offer a power message or important information is a great way to impact high school students and their learning.

The book "Make Lemonade" could have been written about my students and their peers. I have a couple students in my Personal Finance course who have very limited English language so the book "Using Math in Cooking" is a great resource when connecting the language, the math and actually doing a hands-on activity to make the understanding come to life.

I appreciate the diversity of the book collection and how it relates to my students and my classroom.”

  • Growing Our Food

    Funded Sep 10, 2021

The excitement was contagious as the planter was assembled and dirt was added. The students couldn't believe that they were actually going to plant seeds that would then grow into plants that we could use in the kitchen and eventually eat. The anticipation continued to grow as the seeds began to spout. The students rushed to class each morning to check on the progress of their plants. We used the plant growth in science class and we talked about the rate of growth in math class. The students are still shocked that we could grow food that we would eat. This was an exciting addition to our classroom.”

  • Playing Leads to Success

    Funded Sep 28, 2021

The students were so excited to receive the new games. I have games that will work with my Personal Finance class as well as a game for my Adult Ed class where we do cooking and preparing for home life.

I appreciate the containers that will store all of our products as well as the magnetic spice rack which keeps the most used items attached on the refrigerator.

The students have commented on the fact that they can't believe we continue to receive new and awesome products that they are encouraged to use. It is so much fun to watch their excitement when learning a new game or using a new item in the classroom.

Thank you again for supporting my classroom and my students.”

  • Weekly Chats

    Funded Sep 8, 2021

My students are so excited to have the carpet and additional seating for us to have our chats, discuss child development as well as tackle tough adult questions. Somehow, the area to chat is less intimidating then the classroom tables and chairs. The students can be themselves and feel more willing to share in the bean bag area.

As we enter the fall season, we also have an increase in the number of colds so having the extra Kleenex is a huge benefit.

It is so nice to have the support of those who may never meet my students. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

I work with 6th - 8th graders who often doubt their mathematical abilities which is common with this age group. I want to increase their confidence in their own ability through positive experiences with math.
