Digital Resources for a Digital Year!
Funded Dec 19, 2020There are not enough words to show my gratitude for your generous donation. This year is like nothing I've ever experienced in my career. My school has been virtual the entire school year. As you can imagine, It has taken hours of preparation and planning to create a virtual experience to meet the needs of my students.
Your generous donation enabled me to purchase digital materials from Teachers Pay Teachers to teach the curriculum. Through your donation, I have been able to purchase interactive games and projects to allow students to practice what they have learned and continue to keep them engaged.
During our unit on rocks, I was able to purchase a virtual rock experience that would allow students to virtually explore the different types of rocks since we could not explore them in person. I was able to purchase digital materials that helped my students plan and write rich stories. Because of you, I've been able to purchase grammar games that allow students to dig deeper into parts of speech. The list of things you provided goes on and on. I am forever grateful.”

Funded Aug 10, 2019I can't thank you enough for giving my class "The Gift of a Good Book!" Because of your donation, my students were able to experience a wide variety of fables and folktales. I wish you could have seen their faces light up as they experienced these stories from around the world! It gave them so much pride in their own culture, but most importantly it made them excited to read. The kids were begging to read the books and to have them read aloud to them.
The books you donated were from a variety of reading levels. Your gift allowed me to meet the needs of each child in my class by providing them with access to fables and folktales on their reading level. Students read in small groups, with partners, and alone. They were inspired by one tale and searched for more. The enthusiasm was unreal!
We used these books explore the elements of fables and folktales. Students were so excited as they read to identify the characters and the lessons learned from each story. I was able to teach my students how to compare and contrast two folktales using a double bubble map. I've included a picture to show how well they did with this skill. We then learned how to write a paragraph comparing and contrasting two stories.
As we've recently moved onto a different genre in reading, the students' love for folktales and fables is still present. They are still referring to the different books, characters, and lessons. Most of all, they are still asking to read them. Thank you for helping me inspire my students to appreciate the gift of a good book .”

Active Body, Active Brain
Funded Oct 13, 2016From the moment the mysterious boxes appeared in my classroom, my students were filled with curiosity and excitement. My sweet class was blown away as we opened our "Wobble Stools." One by one they tried out our new stools and filled the room with "These are AWESOME!" or "I love these!"
My smart, but active group of students are able to use these amazing stools to stay in motion while learning and completing work. It's now a common sight to look around my room and see students rocking as they read or complete an assignment. While working in small groups I've noticed an increase in attention and focus from my students that are able to move while we work.
It goes without saying that your generous donation has made a huge impact on the daily performance of my amazing third grade students. It's because of your kindness that we are able to maintain our active bodies and minds!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Brooks
