4th Grade Reading Wizards
Funded Dec 6, 2022My students spent 2 months completing a novel study on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. During this time, they were able to gain fluency, vocabulary and comprehension and also build confidence in their read alouds. It was so neat to watch students, who do not normally volunteer to read out loud, eagerly raise their hand for their next turn.
Upon the completion of our classroom novel study, students were eager to read the next book in the Harry Potter series: The Chamber of Secrets. Because of your generous donations, I was able to gift each student with their very own copy of The Chamber of Secrets! They were thrilled to have a new novel to read over the summer!! I am thrilled that they will continue to read and build upon their skills over summer break!
Thank you so much for donating!! You made their 4th grade dreams come true!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Coombs
This classroom project was brought to life by Seed to Read and 8 other donors.Learning Through Novel Studies
Funded Dec 17, 2021Thank you so much for donating this novel to our class. Our class used this book during our Novel Study time gain fluency, vocabulary and comprehension and also build confidence in their read alouds. It was so neat to watch students, who do not normally volunteer to read out loud, eagerly raise their hand for their next turn.
This book also supported several Idaho history standards. We read it in conjunction to learning about the significant impact and struggle of the first pioneers in Idaho. We are going to continue to use this novel to guide students in a historical fiction narrative about the life of pioneers on the Oregon Trail.
I appreciate your donations, and look forward to using this book to guide learning in my classroom for many years to come!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Coombs
Creating 4th Grade Reading Wizards with Harry Potter
Funded May 19, 2021Thank you so much for helping me turn my classroom into Hogwarts! My students were beyond surprised when they walked into the classroom. Some even had tears of joy as they put on their Harry Potter glasses and got out their magical (pencil) wands!
We spent the week learning new vocabulary as we created spell books! We created potions and predicted who was a wizard and who was a muggle. We put our math skills to work on several intense games of Quidditch! We even ate a golden snitch! We also chowed down on chocolate frogs, Bertie Bott's Jellybeans and Butterscotch drinks!
My students were overjoyed on the last day when they received their very own copy of The Chamber of Secrets! They were thrilled to have a new novel to read over the summer!!
Thank you so much for donating!! You made their 4th grade dreams come true!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Coombs
