Back to School Supplies
Funded Jul 11, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom project. Coming back into the classroom after the pandemic and online learning has been very difficult for my students. But during our art lessons my students have been able to connect and feel more comfortable expressing themselves in the classroom.
Using the muslin fabric and sharpies, students created tie-die fabric pieces that we are currently sewing into pillows. Many of my students are learning for the first time the basic sewing skills that are so important. My students have really enjoyed making origami and other crafts using the assortment of wonderful supplies that you donated.
Thank you again for your support of my classroom and my students creativity.”

Stamps for Students
Funded Feb 18, 2021Thank you so much for your generous contribution to my classroom. When my students found out that they were going to be able to send postcards to their friends in the mail they were very excited. My students have spent the last few months eagerly designing the blank sides of their postcards, writing messages to their friends, and sending off their postcards in the mail.
Many of my students have expressed that they miss their friends and have felt lonely during distance learning. The postcards and stamps allowed my students to stay connected when they have been far apart. It was so exciting to start one of our online morning meetings and hear students shout, "I got a postcard in the mail!" This activity has also been an excellent way for my students to practice the art of letting writing and to learn how to send mail.
Thank you again for supporting my classroom project.”

Engaging Books for Avid Readers
Funded Oct 22, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom and students' literacy. My students have been so excited to read the new books and especially love the colorful illustrations. Every morning, we start our school day by reading one of the books together and discussing connections students can make between the books and their lives. We also make connections between the books we read and what is going on in the world and their community.
My students especially loved reading the books by the author Matt de la Pena because Matt is an author who grew up in my students' community. My students' faces lit up when they recognized the name of their hometown as the setting for one of the books and asked how Matt was able to become an author.
My students also loved connecting to the book Alma and How She Got Her Name as they discussed the stories and meaning behind their names. While sometimes it is hard to connect with students over the computer, reading books like these made it easy for my students to talk, share ideas, and connect with one another through literature.
Thank you again for your donation and supporting public education.”
