Funded Sep 13, 2020Creating a colorful and visually stimulating virtual classroom has been a blast. The resources have been amazing and it really pushing me to create more for my students. When I printed my first set of vocabulary words, I held them at the screen so students could get a closer look. After posting them on the wall behind me, I have has students request me to move my head to they could see the word and use it properly in their response.
You all have increased my engagement 10 fold! The color ink really brings alive my word walk behind me. It's also great for me to reference while students work. The flip chart paper has really helped me and students who struggle with math concepts. When solving for speed, physically working out the problem on the flip chart paper builds the confidence in my students to show there work. Some students are not sure or confident in showing their math work on a computer, but with me writing it, it encourages them to do the same in their home.
The next step in bringing the classroom to the computer will be me searching for models of planetary science, chemistry sets, and maybe even geological pieces. In 8th grade we cover all the science disciplines and if I am able to physically hold and manipulate a resource it will be more impactful than students just looking at a picture or video.”
With gratitude,
