STEM in the Hood
Funded Jun 7, 2020Thanks to the wonderful donors, this project has changed the way my students view engineering and structures around their community. My students have begun to view the world around them through different lenses. The students were thrilled to take ownership of their learning because of the wonderful use of the Canon digital camera. This real-world activity has given my students an opportunity to implement an engineering mindset and think of practical improvements, which can greatly impact the community in which they live. I found it interesting how each student viewed many of the same structures when they printed their work using the HP printer, but differ greatly in the ways the structure could be improved upon.”

Natural Energy Sources with STEM!
Funded Nov 2, 2017Thank you for your generous donation of the HP Laptop and carrying case. This substantial donation from supporters like you will help me to provide educational and emotional support to students who have learning challenges. These students know they can come to me and I will help them with their educational and social needs.
Your support has played a key role with helping to create a safe space for students. Now, I can sit down with students in a one-to-one or small group session because we have a valuable resource at our fingertips, our HP Laptop. My students are willing to overcome the most challenging of circumstances when given the right tools and materials. My students have demonstrated tremendous academic progress because of the daily use of the HP Laptop to research Science related concepts and skills, create tables and charts to display data, and to create presentations for their Science Fair Projects.
Thanks again for your generous support of our efforts to educate students in underprivileged communities.”

Ms. Jackson
Ink, Paper, Scissors, Glue: Science Interactive Notebooks, Yahoo!!!
Funded Oct 23, 2017Thank you for your generous donation of ink, paper, scissors, and glue. These much-needed items have helped me to modify and adapt my teaching strategies to meet the needs of 180 students who are mildly learning disabled and/or are learning English as a second language.
With your generous donation, these students have created their own Interactive Science Notebook, which they take great pride in having and using it as a learning tool. Their confidence level has increased drastically. These students are soaring above and beyond expectations because of these generous materials. These supplies have allowed me to teach at a level where the achievement gap is closing.
Thank you once again for your donation.
These materials mean the world to us!”

Eureka! I Found it! Science Interactive Notebooks
Funded Oct 17, 2016It was a late Tuesday afternoon, when my classroom phone rang and the school's receptionist called to inform me that I received a huge package. My first thought was, she definitely called the wrong Ms. Jackson, since there are two female teachers with the same last name in the building.
Upon entering the main office to tell the receptionist, she made a big mistake. She smiled and questioned, "Did you win the lottery?" I was perplexed. "Who me? (I never win anything)." That's when I noticed, the huge box labeled HP 8720 and next to it was a box from Staples. That's when I knew, my wish had been granted. Donors choose had chosen me!
Wow! I couldn't believe my eyes! I actually received the much needed printer, ink, colored pencils, glue, scissors, and pencil sharpener for my students. I was the talk of the school. My students were overjoyed to see the huge printer and eager to use the supplies for their interactive notebooks. I was struggling to teach Science concepts, skills, and strategies at my students' instructional reading levels.
My students have demonstrated tremendous academic progress because of the daily use of their Science interactive notebooks, as demonstrated by their scores on district and state standardized tests. The students who have specific learning disabilities and are learning English as a second language are able to apply the skills and strategies learned from their personalized Science interactive notebook to formal tests and other subject areas.
The huge HP printer allows me to print scientific materials at the students' instructional reading levels, which are then cut and glued into their custom-made interactive notebooks. The students use the color pencils to color code reading material or diagrams and write illustrated notes to better understand the concepts.
Thank you for your generosity and kindness. It's donors like you, who help children in underprivileged communities achieve the impossible. Truthfully, I couldn't have done this project without your donation and generosity. Again, thank you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Jackson
