Thank
you so much. Your donation has allowed me to provide my students with a solid
foundation and hands-on experiences in Chemistry, which they will remember from
years to come.
The
laboratory kit contained 20 labs and hands-on activities that covered 8 main
chemistry concepts that provided my students with rich experiences. Since
receiving the kits we have covered 3 of the main chemistry concepts. Through
your gifts I have provided my college bound chemistry students with a great
start to mastering the concepts of a college level chemistry course through using
these hands on micro-scale chemistry kits.
Your
gifts have inspired my students and will be appreciated by many chemistry
students in the near future. Your generosity

This classroom project was brought to life by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and 8 other donors.

I teach (2) General Chemistry courses which are composed of students in grade 10 and ages range from 15 to 16years, (2) physics courses and (1) DAPCEP course. This is in an inner city public school which is one of 10 high schools in a large urban district in Michigan. The school has an open enrollment policy and general education curriculum with students who are in regular and special education. The student population is composed of 97.2% African American, 1.1% Hispanic, 1.1 Caucasian, and 0.6% American Indian or Alaska Native students of which 67.2% are male and 32.8% female. The school is classified as a Title I school and all students receive free lunch. The district mandated class size is 36 although the students are classified as high risk and each class period is only 55 minutes long.
