  • Snack Time

    Funded Sep 30, 2023

Thank you so much for your thoughtful contribution. My students have shown much appreciation for having snacks available when they most need them. When they see the Amazon boxes full of snacks, they rejoice because they know they will get a variety of fun, healthy snacks.

They have come to look forward to snack time, they are sustained throughout the day, and they put extra effort into their work knowing they have sustained nourishment. I find my students more engaged and focused on their lessons throughout the day because of snack time.

We used the Oreos in class for our phases of the moon unit. Students loved using the Oreos to represent the different phases of the moon as this gave them a more interactive, hands-on approach to learning. We also used the popcorn for addition and subtraction of decimals. We used the various candies for fractions. I believe they enjoyed the snacks even more after using them for hands-on kinesthetic learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. G.

  • Together Is Better!!!

    Funded Aug 26, 2023

Thank you once again for assisting us in obtaining the furniture that we needed for small group instruction. Our students are anxious to come to the table and are engaged in small group instruction.

The students are telling me they like coming to small groups and they understand the concepts so much more. They also love sitting on their stools and they feel like adults. It's a nice change from sitting at a desk and table. I will upload the student's notes so you can read them for yourselves. I have seen tremendous growth in my IEP students, they are participating, and blossoming in the classroom.

Thank you once again for your assistance.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. G.

  • Taking Technology to the Classroom

    Funded Jan 23, 2017

We really appreciate your generous donation, you have truly blessed us. We are now able to do research and it does not take forever to get onto the Internet. We are also able to go on various educational websites like Learnbop, Mathletics, Myon, News ELA and other educational websites with great ease. In this technological world that we live in it is great that our students can be exposed to technology. Some of them are only able to use a computer in school since there is none at home.

Once again our dearest gratitude to my friends and some strangers who took the time to care. You have help to create life long learners, continue to inspire others.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. G.

I am a fourth grade teacher at a Title 1 school in Brooklyn. My students are ardent, brilliant and eager learners. Over the past few years, our neighborhood has become the epicenter of Brooklyn. The neighborhood has changed due to rapid gentrification. For many of the families this means that their cost of living has dramatically increased while their incomes have not. For my students, it has become clear that this anti-growth is a barrier to many opportunities. My hope is that my students will be able to have enhancing encounters that will keep them stimulated and engaged as life-long learners.
