Science Dissection for All Students!
Funded Oct 4, 2024Thank you so much! The students absolutely loved the dissection experience! The owl pellets were filled with rodent skeletons, skulls and so many tiny vertebrae. The frogs really did look like they were going to jump out onto our lab tables! The internal structure of the frogs were well preserved and students were able to make sense of the internal structure and how the structure lends to its function. We were also able to coordinate with a local seafood company and provide a dissection experience for our entire school! 6th grade through 8th grade! Over 600 students were able to participate because of your generosity. Your support made this hands-on learning experience happen! It was an amazing opportunity for students to engage with biology and anatomy. It truly sparked students' curiosity and enthusiasm for science. You have helped inspire the next generation of learners. We are so truly grateful! Frog legs, squid eyeballs and rodent skeletons, Oh my! Thank you again and again from the whole Wendler Science Department and student community”

Anxiety Reducing Tools for Middle School Science Class
Funded Aug 3, 2023I ended up switching out the wobble stools for more fidgets and some supplies for doing art projects. The fidgets are hugely popular with many students. I have a drawer in my desk and kids come up to ask me and then pick out a fidget or two to use. I'm happy to have gotten so many because different kids like different types, plus some of them get broken after getting handled so often. One thing that surprised me was how many kids in my advanced science class wanted to use the fidgets. They all seem very appreciative, thank you so much.
The headphones I haven't used as much yet because I'm still trying to figure out a music source that kids can go to that is approved by the district. A couple of kids have used them with a "make your own beats" type app that I think I will introduce the rest of the kids to. A couple kids can just sit and listen to beats when normally they'd be roaming the classroom and causing disruptions otherwise.
And, many of the kids relax with art projects. They are going to love the rainbow of colors with the pencil sets. The whiteboard markers we've already used to allow more kids to participate without having to share outloud.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. King
