Sit up/Stand Up- Great Music Begins With Great Posture!
Funded May 9, 2024I want to extend I heartfelt thanks for your generous donations toward the purchase of our new music stands.
Your support has made a significant impact on our program. The students have already shown improvement in their posture, they are able to watch and follow me as I conduct, and they have shown great pride in caring for the new equipment. Thanks to your generosity, our young musicians will have the tools they need to thrive and grow in their musical journey.
Your contribution helps us continue to provide a high-quality music education and fosters a love for the arts in our school community.
Thank you once again for your kindness and support.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Smith
Future Composers In The Making!
Funded Feb 1, 2019Thank you so much for generously donating to my project. This program has already made a difference on the depth of knowledge my students have in music theory. At the beginning of the year, I noticed that my 8th grade students had an interest in learning more about transposing music between different instruments. Their interest is what inspired me to create this project.
As a group assignment, I decided to have one of my 8th grade classes write a song that they had been working on. They started with a simple, three-note piano melody of a popular song they've heard. That melody was then transposed and expanded into a "theme and variations"- of sorts. Once the basic melody was established, the group came up with a bass line for the trombones and tubas. Next, the percussion students listened to the recording and wrote a part for snare and bass drums. Before long, the class had created a full band arrangement based on an original 3-note melody! I was impressed!
Throughout the process, the students were taking turns coming up to the computer and SmartBoard to add parts to the arrangement. They enjoyed the assignment so much, that I decided to try it with my other band classes- all doing different songs. They were creating! In the future, I'd like to make composing/arranging with Finale a regular part of my lessons. Thank you.”
