  • Magazines for Me

    Funded Sep 30, 2020

It has been such a delight to receive the subscription to Scholastic magazine each month for my students! The magazines are bright and colorful, relevant and engaging, and the two different levels help me meet all of the students in my class, right where they are.

My students don't always love reading and often times books can be intimidating. This magazine subscription takes away the intimidation by providing short articles that are accessible to students. We have especially loved the digital option that allows them to enjoy extension activities.”

  • Snack Shop Fun: Snacking and Learning

    Funded Aug 9, 2017

My students were thrilled to receive the snack shop supplies! It's been so inspiring to watch how something as simple as snack time can evolve into an amazing learning experience.

Students are excited to take turns delivering snacks, they love choosing snacks to share! We have talked about creating menus, choice boards and even rating their favorite snacks so that we will know what to reorder when it is time.

Snack time is now a highlight of the day for my class with fresh choices and an inspiring way to choose snacks, take turns serving snacks and share what they love!

    Thanks for supporting our classroom!”

    Mrs. Greene

  • Engineers to the Rescue

    Funded Jul 2, 2019

What a delight to introduce our engineering project to students! They have loved being able to learn techniques for thinking outside the box and as their teacher I have loved having concrete tools to help stretch their thinking and learning.

Giving students time to explore engineering through hands on activities is such an important component for students to have exposure and experience with. In our classroom we strive to give students these opportunities during our STEAM time that integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.

Having this kit has helped us have supplies and activities readily available for students to dive into new challenges each week.

Thank you for your donations that help us reach and teach our students!”

  • The Color of Me

    Funded Aug 3, 2019

Our Colors of Me unit certainly started off the year on a great note! Students were inspired by the story, to create and explore. It was so encouraging to see them explore and encourage each other.

Students have enjoyed finding what color they are and learning more about their differences and similarities. Their faces lit up as they explored the multitude of colors and shapes to find the faces and cut outs that would represent them the best.

Your donations allowed our class to have opportunities to learn and explore through literature and hands on activities. Thank you for supporting our classroom!”

  • Tinkering to Learn

    Funded Jun 17, 2019

Last week I had the pleasure of introducing my students to the Tinkering Toolbox. My favorite part was seeing their faces as I explained that many donors helped make it possible for them to enjoy this item in our classroom.

It was a marvel to see them inspect all the supplies, understand that they could choose any supplies they wished, and for this day build anything they chose. For many of my students access to materials that encourage exploration and building is limited to what I provide them at school. Being able to introduce the Tinkering Toolbox that is loaded with supplies far beyond our normal construction paper and Popsicle sticks was so exciting!

Thank you for investing in our classroom! Your support means the world!”

  • Magazines Make Readers Too!

    Funded Feb 17, 2017

What a treat to celebrate the ending of the school year with the arrival of our new magazine subscriptions! My students are always in awe that someone they don't know would help provide items for our classroom.

For all of my students reading is hard and not a choice, I worked hard to choose magazines that would be of interest to them and be engaging. Through your funding, I was able to provide them with an assortment of magazines that are just this!

I think what is most exciting is the fact that this gift will keep on giving! Every month new magazines will arrive and get placed in our new magazine center. My hope is that this experience will be one more pebble in the pond to inspire my students to be life long readers.

Thanks again for your graciousness and support!”

  • Flexible and Focused

    Funded Oct 11, 2016

Many thanks for the donation to our classroom. With your donation we were able to purchase an amazing set of supplies for our classroom.

These supplies have enabled us to differentiate our seating options in the classroom. We have placed bouncy bands on all of the chairs in our classroom, which allows for students who typically kick or jump out of their chairs, to kick and get resistance without disturbing their classmates.

We have used the yoga cushions on the carpet and students have even added these cushions to their chairs to provided opportunity for movement and action.

Thank you for supporting our efforts in differentiating expectations in the classroom.”

  • Rolling-Rolling-Rolling-Kitchen on the Go!

    Funded Sep 12, 2016

Having the kitchen on the go has been an amazing addition to our classroom. These supplies have allowed us to have many opportunities to create recipes.

My students were thrilled when they opened the supplies and saw that someone had purchased supplies for our classroom. They are excited and motivated to cook and want to cook every day!

We are working together to utilize these supplies and create more opportunities for integrating these materials into our classroom units.

So far my favorite experience has been cooking pumpkin pie dip and even playdough!

Thanks for helping us provide hands on opportunities.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Greene

  • Sitting Pretty-Help us Grow Life-Long Readers!

    Funded Aug 21, 2015

Our class is enjoying the new chairs every day! It is so exciting to see the students sitting and reading comfortably every day. Even my most reluctant readers I have seen settle down with a book and enjoy what they read and their comfy spot!

The students were thrilled when the giant boxes arrived with our chairs inside. They loved getting to work together to put the chairs together. It was so great to see their cooperation and determination as they followed the directions and used the pictures to work on the chairs.

As we continue working on social skills and learning to be good friends and citizens, our new chairs continue to provide opportunities to help us learn~!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Greene

  • One to One Equals Success!

    Funded Dec 2, 2015

    Dear Donors,

I want to thank you again for your donation! Having another i-pad in our classroom has meant that my students have more opportunity to complete 1-1 or learning in pairs that is i-pad based.

It is amazing to see how my students are motivated when I can involve learning on the i-pad! The number of engaging and motivating applications for students grows every day. My students love being able to play interactive games that are fun, but academically or socially based. They love to practice letters, math facts and even social skills through playing a myriad of different games on the i-pads.

Thank you for making motivating and engaging my students easier by helping to provide this ipad!”

As a teacher of students in K5-5th grade with Multiple Disabilities, I am constantly working to provide a literacy rich community to inspire and motivate my students. These students are all between 2 and 4 grade levels behind their peers, and struggle in all areas. Our school is in a small community and most of my students are on free or reduced lunch plans. My goal is to create rich experiences that expand horizons and help to create wonder.
