As I look around my room I wish I had a greater variety of texts readily available for my students to explore! Having Kindle Fires in the classroom will allow students to read texts on a variety of genres. These Kindles will be used during centers to provide students with educational learning apps that can be differentiated for all levels of reading, from those who need phonics instruction, English Language Learners or those who need more challenging topics to explore! Let's face it, technology is a huge part of our children's lives. Although nothing will replace a book in hand, technology allows the opportunity to access more texts than I have in my classroom. It gives students an alternative way to explore literature and research information. I want my students to get excited and stay excited about reading!
