Make Math Thinking Visible and Vertical
Funded May 7, 2024Thank you for supporting math teaching and learning at Lincoln High School. This year, it was powerful to see how students engaged with math thinking when they were up white boards working to make sense of challenging problems together. This donation will help other teachers who want to try this method in their own classroom.”

This classroom project was brought to life by General Motors and 2 other donors.School Supplies for AP Language Classroom
Funded Sep 2, 2019Thank you for providing my students with the schools supplies they needed at the start of the year to be successful in our AP Language class. We are using the 3x5 cards to learn vocabulary, the white board post-it note to plan out our thesis statements, and folders and notebooks to organize all of our learning.
Your donation allowed us to dive right into learning at the beginning of the year. Your donation was a reminder to students that there are folks who are rooting for their success! Thank you for believing in my students.”

Supplies for AP English Class for Diverse Group of Students
Funded Aug 29, 2017Thank you for your donation of school supplies for my students. On the first day of school, I told them, "An anonymous donor from our community thinks you deserve to start the school year with all the supplies you need to learn in this class. Isn't that cool? People believe in you." They were both surprised and grateful.
Throughout the year, new students trickle into my class, either from other classes or from other schools. In the past, this has always been a headache in terms of supplies as I had to explain everything the students needed and then wait for them to get it all and then help them label it, etc. Now when a new student comes in, I say, "Welcome. Here are your supplies. Let's learn."
I realize that binders, notebooks, highlighters, dividers and flashcards aren't super flashy -- they don't lend themselves to exciting "thank you" photos. But they are the ordinary tools of learning that help my students take steps forward in their education every day.
I am thankful.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Hanawalt
