Students will earn these incentives based on engagement, teamwork, persistence, and positive behavior! These supplies are essential to encourage students to understand the power of EARNING what they need to break a perpetual cycle of poverty and for them to feel the glowing happiness of success. Many students walk into my classroom with an aching tummy, making it very difficult for them to concentrate and learn. The food incentives are given most frequently as a way to combat hunger. They also will have the opportunity to earn sports equipment to help facilitate their school athletics passions (exercise is known to help stimulate the brain and promote greater learning) and school supplies for those who cannot afford them. The interactive engagement activities will be provided as an entire class incentive (extra fun Fridays) to encourage focus throughout the school week and allow students to practice knowledge in a fun and engaging way! These games help with differentiation and engagement-students learn better if they are having fun! Games such as hedbanz and digame will encourage and assist in building conversation skills in an environment that is low-risk and comfortable for every student. Operation in Spanish is intended to incorporate a differentiated and worldly approach as well as to target those students who may have an interest going into the medical/science field. Spanish Scrabble, Uno & similar games will be used to scaffold and build on vocabulary and spelling. My ESL students will benefit from the English games requested as it is very difficult to find affordable resources that will encourage and engage students who are limited English proficiency. Games such as "Would you rather" and "silly sentences" will facilitate their acquisition of sentence structure, syntax, grammar, and colloquial language. These games will be incorporated into everyday
