Winding Our Way in Music With Recorders
Funded Dec 31, 2024Wow! What a way to end 2024!! Thank you so much for funding my project. My students will be very excited to be using recorders for the last half of the year because they have been asking me when they are going to start!! I am so thankful for your generosity towards my students and I know they will also be thankful that someone is thinking about them and their musical experiences. Thank you again for your thoughtfulness and kindness. It is so very much appreciated.”

Funded Sep 10, 2020My students have been remote schooling on Zoom since last March. Your thoughtfulness and kindness in supporting this project have left me in such a place of gratitude. Without your support I am unsure how I would have been able to make it this far throughout this school year.
This pandemic has put such a strain in all classrooms throughout the world, but teaching music to students both synchronously and asynchronous have been difficult. The USB microphone and wireless microphone and headset have been great so that I can move around in front of the computer and the students can still hear me. The computer stand lifts up my computer so that I am able to see my students and share my screen when I am sitting and standing. The portable stereo has been amazing in being able to hear my students and share music with them. It will also come in handy when they are able to return as I will be traveling to their classrooms, as well as taking them outside, for music. Portability and volume are key!
Due to your generosity, I have been able to make video lessons and teach live on zoom to my students. It has not been an easy process but these technology items have been a great asset and most of these tools will be useful when the students are finally able to return to school. My students and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts and we look forward to the day when normal music making can return to all of us.”

Singing, Reading and Imagining in Elementary Music Classes
Funded Mar 2, 2020Thank you so much for contributing to my project "Singing, Reading and Imagining" in elementary music class. I received my materials just before we shut down school for the Pandemic. Sadly I think I only was able to read/sing one book in person with my students. However, I have been using these songs and stories while remote learning. The students love to see them and listen to them and often ask me to repeat them.
I made sure to choose musical stories and songs that were multicultural in nature and that were relatable to the students. I also chose some story songs that would fill their social emotional needs and where we are currently teaching remotely, that has been an important requirement.
Thank you to all of you who donated to my students. They are very thankful, as am I to learn and enjoy these story songs. They are a fun and enjoyable way to end our music classes. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.”

Funded Mar 8, 2018Thank you so much for your donations for recorders for my grade 3, 4 and 5 music classes. We have been learning how to play a bunch of songs using just B, A and G on our left hand right now as our time at school is dwindling. This is the first opportunity that most of my students have had to play a woodwind instrument, and even though it is a bit challenging, they have risen to the task.
When the boxes first arrive, the students could not wait for me to open them. They were so excited and they could not wait to make a sound on their new instruments! The students started on the recorders just making noise and now they are amazed that in just a short time, they are now making music! The looks on their faces says it all after we play a song and they shake their heads yes.
We hope to keep the excitement of using instruments, both woodwind and percussion, alive and growing. Right now we are just in our beginning stages and I would love for them to be able to form small ensembles that will independently work on their songs and make music for more than just our classroom. I am hopeful that the skills these students are currently learning will help them grow musically and encourage some of them to become lifelong music learners and makers.”
