  • Learn the Importance of Kindness Through Reading

    Thank you so much for your generous donation of a class set of "The Wild Robot." Third grade is usually transition year of reading picture books to reading chapter books. I believe it is really an important year to teach students that reading can be enjoyable and this can be accomplished by reading aloud great books. If students learn that reading can be fun by choosing the right books instead of feeling like reading is a chore, then we can turn students into lifelong readers.

    Reading "The Wild Robot" with my students was a great accomplishment. When I first introduced the book, I heard things like "but there's no pictures" and "we will NEVER finish this." As soon as we started reading it, they were immediately loving the book. Then I started hearing comments like "it's time for 'The Wild Robot!'" They were even getting upset when we skipped a day. So thank you very much for allowing my kids the opportunity to have read along this amazing book and for teaching my kids that reading can be fun and you can learn so much from reading.”

  • Calming Area

    Funded May 4, 2023

    Thank you for the generous donation that helped me create a calming area in my classroom. This has helped my students know that there is a place they can go to when they need to just relax.

    In this calming area my students are able to take a moment to calm their anger. They get to do a puzzle, build legos, read a book, write a letter or other activities that help them reset and continue their day. They has also been even more useful for helping my students manage their nerves, anxiety, and frustration. They've learned that they can take a break from whatever negative emotion they are feeling, and they come back feeling better and to move on with their day.

    This couldn't have been done without your generous donation.
