  • Worthy Texts to Teach Real World Themes!

    Funded Sep 23, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity in helping to provide my students with literature that will bring real world themes to life. Putting books in the hands of each student will go a long way toward promoting literacy within our classroom! By donating, you have helped set an example for young people that reading is not only important, but enjoyable too!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Herrbach

  • Seating Choice Improves Focus and Engagement!

    Funded Jul 11, 2019

Thank you so much for supporting my project to offer flexible seating to all of my students!!! This will truly change the culture of our classroom and allow students more choice in where they will do their best work. It will be amazing to see the look of surprise and excitement on their faces when they walk into the room on Back to School Night!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Herrbach

Flexible Seating for Success! Help me give my students the choice to sit comfortably while learning and working using balance balls, wobble chairs, portable lap desks, and standing workstations. My Students The sixth grade students I will have next year are very high energy, lovable, kind and considerate! They are driven by positive reinforcement and are highly motivated and determined to succeed and learn. I have noticed in my 21 years of teaching, that students at any age tend to learn better, if they are given the right equipment to allow them to move, sit comfortably and learn at the same time. Having the choice to sit in more comfortable seating options truly engages students! I have begun implementing flexible seating options over the past two years that I have made myself, or bought from garage sales and my students have loved it! I noticed an increase in achievement, rigor, respect, and collaboration. My Project Wobble stools, bounce ball chairs, and comfortable furniture will help turn my classroom into an environment where students feel empowered! I currently have some options available to students outside of the traditional desk/chair option, but money is an issue. Flexible seating promotes student choice, is good for physical health, comfort, and encourages collaboration and a sense of community. Children need to move and be comfortable when learning and working. Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength. In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused. An uncomfortable student is unproductive and off task. Giving students the choice to sit where they feel they will be most successful that day, is empowering to them and promotes independence!
