  • Knitting- Using Textiles With Yarn to Make Art

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

The "Knitting – Using Textiles with Yarn to Make Art" project has greatly supported students' social-emotional growth by offering a calm, creative break during the school day. Students are still working on their scarves and will move on to knitting hats next. Due to its popularity and benefits, I will extend the class from 1 hour to 2 hours next year to give students more time to relax, create, and build skills. All my students are so happy and proud of their hard work.

Currently, all students are still working hard to finish their scarves for this semester. Their dedication to their work has been inspiring to see, and the pride they take in their progress is clear. Once the scarves are complete, we will move on to our next project: knitting hats. Students are already excited about this new challenge, and it will continue to build their skills while giving them new opportunities for creativity and personal growth.

Overall, this project has proven to be a valuable and meaningful addition to our school day, supporting students' emotional well-being, creativity, and sense of community.”

  • Crime Scene Investigators for Social and Emotional Health

    Funded Nov 6, 2024

Thank you for your incredible support of our "Crime Scene Investigators for Social and Emotional Health" project! Because of you, my students had the unique opportunity to become real-life forensic scientists, diving into the fascinating world of DNA and crime-solving.

The excitement in my classroom was undeniable when the materials arrived. My students were thrilled to explore forensic science hands-on. One of the highlights was extracting their own DNA—an eye-opening experience that made them truly appreciate the uniqueness of their genetic code. They also created DNA Alias Keychains, using the DNA alphabet codon to form secret names and then solving each other's aliases like true investigators. It was an engaging way to blend science with problem-solving and teamwork!

This project has sparked curiosity and deepened their understanding of genetics and forensic science. Moving forward, we will continue exploring the role of DNA in crime-solving, reinforcing critical thinking skills while making real-world connections.

None of this would have been possible without your generosity. Thank you for investing in our students' education and making learning an unforgettable experience!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Migdalia Sanabria

  • "Photographic Storytelling: Exploring Identity and Emotion"

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous contributions to our project, "Photographic Storytelling: Exploring Identity and Emotion." Your support has truly transformed our classroom experience and enriched my students' learning journey.

The addition of a camera has provided my students with an incredible tool to express their creativity and explore their identities. By capturing emotions and stories through photography, they are learning to communicate in powerful and unique ways that transcend words. The process of framing shots, considering lighting, and composing images has also deepened their understanding of storytelling and visual literacy.

What excites my students most about this new technology is the ability to see their ideas come to life in vivid, tangible ways. They love experimenting with angles, colors, and perspectives to convey different emotions. Seeing their work displayed fosters a sense of pride and confidence in their abilities.

One student, in particular, has truly thrived with this technology. Initially shy and hesitant to share their thoughts, they've found their voice through photography. The camera has become a medium for them to communicate emotions they previously struggled to express, and their work has inspired others in the class.

Thanks to your kindness, my students now have the opportunity to explore their creativity, build technical skills, and grow as individuals. Your impact on their learning experience is immeasurable, and we are deeply grateful.”

  • Help A Teacher During the Pandemic

    Funded Oct 25, 2020

I wanted to effectively do my job as a teacher during this pandemic, and make sure my students are working on their class activities. Having a 2nd screen, I am able to check on multiple students work while still seeing them live in my science classroom.

Science is difficult, but providing constant feedback has allowed my students to want to learn more in science. This is so because of my 2 screens.

The iPad has helped me tremendously during NYC shutdown. My students love the timers they can see for our timed activities as we smoothly transition to other activities. INMS thanks everyone.”

  • Photography Club

    Funded Dec 14, 2009

My students are very enthusiastic with their new Canon Rebel XS. I just organized for their work to be in display in an exhibit near our home town. The students are so excited that people can see their work.

We can thank you enough for your donations. I am able to manage two different levels of Photography where all my students practice the specific focus skill for the week.

For the remainder of the year we have a spring photoshoot that displays nature, flowers, and kids having fun outdoors. Because of your donation many of my students have found their specialty in photography.”
