Funded Aug 14, 2020We are immensely humbled and grateful for such an opportunity to win prize money for resources that would impact the way we offer STEM education at our school. The global pandemic has exposed gaps in access to technological resources and opportunities for students across the country especially those in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. We were able to provide chrome books, tablets and other STEM tools to over 100 families within our school community. Further, many of the tools are currently being used by our Science department to make STEM content accessible, engaging and rigorous. Most notably, the VR technology allowed students to bring the science to hands literally. The technology as evidenced by the pictures surely made the students and staff incredibly happy and motivated to get involved in STEM at our school. Our school is fully remote at the moment, and we are currently trying to explore other ways to use the technology to engage students remotely. We have purchased camera and audio equipment to improve the quality of our virtual lessons and some of the prize money went to supplies to mail home STEM kits to over 180 families. Remote education would surely have been harder without the generosity of everyone at Samsung. We humbly say thank you for this opportunity and we look forward to competing in the future.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Abrams
