Nurturing Passion for French Literature: Inspiring Student Reading

In our classroom, reading is a time for discovery, with students engaged in lively discussions, exploring diverse perspectives, and connecting with characters from around the world. Every day, students pick a new book and read for pleasure (whether it's chapter books, comics, manga or children books), but they don't realize that they are also developping a lifelong love for reading and language.

Once again, I thank you for your generosity towards my students. The document camera has permitted to enhance in so many way my teaching, and therefore my students' learning.
This year, I decided to switch the way I was teaching, driven by the motivation to engage more my students and improve my students' success. I opted for comprehensible input (in order for the input to be considered comprehensible, the student needs to understand what is being said and/or given), and TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling which use a mixture of reading and storytelling to help students learn a foreign language). The document camera allowed me to instantly draw, write and show stories, and everything I do is projected to the wall for all my students to see, which is very helpful in large classes (my largest class is 37 students). Any time a student has a question, I can write on a piece of paper, showed it to the class, and explain or correct in real time.
It is incredible to see the reaction and the engagement of the students when they see their stories projected on the wall. It saves me so much space, and time compared to what I used before (a large and old overhead projector with very expansive bulbs). It is also so easy to use that any of my student can use it for their project or work.
I have some very shy students who were empowered by the technology: I always ask an artist and a writer to keep track of the stories. It is very rewarding for them to see their work showed to the whole class instantly.
