One-To-One Chromebooks!
Funded Aug 12, 2019Thank you so much for donating to my project! My students are excited to have more computers in our classroom. I did have two new students added to my roster so we are not quite at 1-1 Chromebooks, but we are close! We are still in the process of syncing them with the school district network, but will soon have them up and running! My students use Chromebooks for many different online programs. For example, they LOVE Kahoot which is a gameshow type review game online. We use this to prepare for tests/quizzes in all subjects. My students also enjoy using iReady, First in Math, and Prodigy to work on their own level in reading and math. I also plan to use google classroom to have students work online and learn necessary 21st century skills. Storyline Online is also a class favorite to listen to books being read aloud online. Thanks again for your kind donation!”

Funded Feb 19, 2019Thank you for your kind donation. Thank to you, I have been able to increase the amount of online learning used in my classroom. Students are able to work on their own level accessing both math and reading programs online. They love having their own pair of headphones that they can use when they go on the computer. Our new Chromebook is obviously the class favorite. We developed a rotation schedule so each student gets a chance to try out the new technology in the class. They love changing their account and creating google docs or slides online. Specifically, my special education students love having the ability to work on their own level on the computer when they return from intervention class. Students also enjoy working in pairs on the computers. They teach each other new things everyday! Some students have even showed me new ways and programs that we have started using in our class. Thanks again for making all of these discoveries possible!”

Funded Sep 11, 2018thank you for your support! The students love the wobble stool/band and bendy pencils. I wish I could get a wobble stool for every kid! It helps them focus when they sit on the stool to do their work. I am already working on our next donors choose project to get Chromebooks for our classroom. If you are able to help support us my students would greatly appreciate the opportunity to investigate online learning materials catered to their own level. Even the smallest amount is helpful! It's because of people like you that students are growing their love of learning in my classroom. Thanks again!”

Students Need Materials To Keep Them Engaged And Excited!
Funded Nov 10, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donation! I apologize I am late writing this but I am happy to tell you how much of a difference your donation has made in our classroom! The bean bag chairs really add a homey sense to the classroom and the students had a blast learning with hands on materials making landforms and making slime using the glue and clay. I am happy to say we still have some supplies remaining and because they did so well with the projects, I am in the process of planning more hands on experiments for the kids! This would not have been possible without your generous donation!
Students are able to sit in the bean bag chairs to read quietly or work on the Lexia reading program. I have students begging me to have a turn to go sit and read in the chairs. In addition to encouraging the students to enjoy reading and learning about reading in the bean bag chairs, it has helped with behavior management as well! Students who are misbehaving in the classroom or hallways will lose their turn for the day in the bean bag chairs. The incentive of reading in the chairs has helped some students want to do a better job during the rest of the day.
The students had a ton of fun learning with our hands on experiments. We made clay landforms while watching a video about the different landforms. The students were able to keep their hands busy in a productive way using the clay to match what they were seeing in the landform video. We used the glue to mix with borax, water, and iron oxide to make magnetic slime! Students were able to see matter changing forms right in front of their eyes! You could see the light turn on for some of the kids as they felt a solid form while stirring in the bucket. They were even able to test their slime using magnets, to prepare for the third quarter science standards covering magnets and electricity. Students brought home instructions to make slime at home and many of them went out over the holidays and tried to make their own slime, teaching their families!
We plan to continue using the bean bag chairs as behavior motivation and as a comfortable place to read quietly in the classroom. Additionally, I am planning more hands on science experiments for the rest of the year so students can learn with their hands as well as their minds! Thank you again for your generous donation and making all of this possible in our classroom! You are making a difference everyday in room 315!”

Headphones for Intervention Program Use!
Funded Sep 8, 2016Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for your generous donation! Thanks to you, my students are able to use math and reading intervention programs during whole or small group instruction without distractions disrupting them. It is amazing how much of a difference a few pairs of headphones can make! ALL of my kids LOVE the new headphones! They beg me to go on the computers so they can wear the new headphones. It absolutely helps them focus; I have already had 11 kids move up at least one level on the Lexia reading intervention program (way more than last year)! The scissors and pencils have also been extremely helpful so that all the students can have the basic supplies they need each day in class to be able to learn! You are the best!”

Ms. Zakheim
