• Creativity in Movement - Ribbons and a Parachute

  Thank you so much for supporting our music classroom with the "Creative Movement" project. The students "ooohed" and "ahhhed" when they saw the colorful ribbons. The excitement was palpable when I passed them out.

  We have used the red and blue ribbons as part of our Veterans Day program. The kindergarteners used all of the colors while moving to the Pentatonix Hallelujah. They are a group which is not known for their focus and they did a great job of moving to the music with the ribbons. I was so proud of them. Everyone used the ribbons exactly as they were supposed to do! Not one student misbehaved! Big smiles all around!!!

• Full STEAM Ahead - Experimenting With SOUND in Music

  Thank you very much for your kind support of our class.

  The Delta Science Module: Sound Kit is very comprehensive! There are so many options for experimenting with and exploring sound production. Each part is meticulously crafted. The different bins are carefully labeled with the contents. I am hoping that will help when I need to replace materials that are consumables. It would have been helpful if they had labeled the amount as well as the item but having the comprehensive list is a good starting point.

  Next year, I am hoping to use the ideas/ lessons throughout the year. The objectives in learning about sound production support our required music skills. I think the learning will be more effective by extending it throughout the year instead of a concentrated unit.

• Full STEAM Ahead - Sound Adventures

  The Toobaloos have been great fun for the students. They arrived quickly and were exactly what I had hoped for when I chose them!

  We have been using the Toobaloos with Kindergarten and First grades. The Kindergarten students have been listening to and identifying different voices. My first grade kiddos are trying to get a sense for when they are speaking instead of singing. It is hard to explain to the students that even though they think they're singing, they are actually talking. With these tools, they can hear it! Even my older kids wanted to use them when they saw them sitting out.

• Creativity in Movement - Scarves & Ribbons

  Thank you very much for supporting our classroom with the scarves and ribbons! The students love the bright colors of the scarves.

  My kindergartners especially love playing and exploring with the materials!! The students use them to explore movement while they are listening to music. We have been exploring the differences in music with a beat and with no beat.

  We are hoping to get more ribbons in the future. We have enough currently for half of the class.

  Many students work themselves into a stressful place throughout the day. Situations that adults might not consider potentially explosive can set them off; and, having these tools can be the difference between a few distressing minutes and a total loss for the rest of the day. Spiraling in that way has a direct impact on the student's experience in the classroom and what learning is taking place.

• Maintaining Safety & Health!

  I am so excited to start using the air purifiers again. With the resurgence of other non-Covid germs in our school, the air purifiers working again is a weight off my mind! Getting the filters installed as soon as they arrived was my first thought!

  I am thrilled to have the option to clean our area immediately and thoroughly with the wipes, cloths, and broom/ dustpan set. This will make a huge difference in our classroom environment!

• Online Play Is Safe Everyday

  Thank you for caring about our school community.

  As we move to a Post COVID world - that still includes COVID in it! - we are using more of the actual instruments. However, the opportunities that we have had with this online platform have been meaningful. One of the best aspects of this online subscription is that this provides access to virtual instruments, music games, and concepts for the students to bring their learning out of the music classroom in the school. They can use these tools at home and share their knowledge with family members. They can push forward into areas that intrigued them in class, but maybe we were unable to focus on as much as they would have liked.

• "Stayin' Alive" with Drums Alive

  Funded Sep 26, 2022

  The online training and certification course for Drums Alive has been very informative and has stretched my abilities. I have learned so much about integrating movement with music. The information has spiked my interest in how dance and playing are connected. Another unexpected avenue was an overview and introduction to sports physiology.

  A valuable resource for training online is that I can retake portions of the course and reevaluate/ check my understanding and application of the techniques. I appreciate having that access and reference. There is a thriving community of teachers using these techniques in traditional classrooms and private studios.

  I have been sharing the information with our district coordinator and hope we can host a session for elementary music and physical education teachers. This program offers our students healthy options for coping with some distressing issues that have become entwined in our culture and lives.”

• 'Great Day to Be Alive' With Drums Alive

  I am so excited to be starting the online training course to learn about using DrumsAlive with our students. When my box of supplies was brought into the classroom, I felt like it was Christmas morning! I couldn't wait to open it up and see everything. I have just started my course - and the beginning is background/ history/ research; however, I am thrilled at the prospect of putting these tools to use and absorbing as much as I can.

  I am incredibly grateful that you are willing to help teachers improve our resources and enrich what we are able to offer our students. I feel that this program will have an impact on student engagement. We want our students to plug into what we are learning and doing in the classroom. It is exciting to learn new skills that can have an immediate effect on the classroom. I have always loved learning and am eager to take advantage of this opportunity.
