This year we are pushing to make sure that Science is taught in every classroom for 45 minutes a day. The 4th grade currently does not have materials to complete these experiments. If we could get these supplies then 4th grade classes will be able to have some hands-on experiences with the content. As we all know students learn better when they actually are able to do these experiments. Not only does this help excite them about learning but it makes learning fun. Students shouldn't hate school at such an early age. Let's give these kids an opportunity to have these experiences! Students will use the beakers, hot plate, and sieve/strainer to experiment with mixtures and solutions. My class will mix different forms of sand, rock, and water. I will show the students that these can still be separated by using hands or a sieve. Students will then dissolve salt and water, using the hot plate to separate the two. This is a solution because heat had to be added to separate. Thermometers will be used to have hands-on experience with reading thermometers. The pan balance and magnets will be used when comparing matter, and the circuit kit will be using in showing closed and open circuits.
