Notes: When You Want Them, How You Want Them.

Funded Oct 2, 2017

In this day in age, our students are extremely motivated using technology in the classroom. We use technology to help students realize that learning is fun. Programs such as Kahoot and Quizlet make learning a competition and our students thrive on competition. Technology is also used to show our students videos that may explain a topic more visually than teachers can on a white board. Additionally, my students use technology to view the class notes. I can project the notes while walking around to make sure the students stay on task.

The most exciting part about the new product is that they can interact with the notes. My students love being able to write on the Surface for their classmates to see. They feel powerful when they complete a problem from their seat on the Surface. They also like that the printed notes, which are the ones projected from the surface, keep them organized. It saves time in class since they do not have to wrote out all the notes.

Specifically, in my 6th period I have a student that loves the use of the Surface. She usually has it on her desk while I teach. She slides the PowerPoint presentation when I am done discussing slides and need to move onto the next slide. She smiles when she gets to do this and is more focused because she also answers some of the "Your Turns" on the Surface.

Students seem to feel shy when they are asked to come up to the board and answer a question. They are more willing to show their work when they get to stay in their seat. Using the surface allows them to stay out of the direct spotlight and still share their thoughts with the class. We love using the Surface in class!”

With gratitude,
