Learning through Play

My students are really enjoying their new toys and materials in their centers. In the dramatic play center, I have seen MAJOR improvement of meaningful play. They are socializing more and playing together. We had a discussion about taking care of our new toys and I can see the students really appreciate their new toys and materials.

When I told them that we had packages on the way, they could not wait to open them. We opened the boxes as they arrived. Their mouths dropped when I told them that friends, family, and total strangers had bought these toys for us.

With the donations provided, we were able to purchase new dramatic play materials such as new baby dolls, a baby crib, new utensils and cookware. In the library center, we added a big blue chair where the kids love to read to book buddies. Our next plans for the project is to purchase more toys and materials for our art and blocks center.”
