  • iPad for our Pros

    Funded Aug 15, 2023

Thank you for funding my project. This resource goes a long away toward advancing the opportunities of my film and video students. We've already had limited use of an iPad before, but with just one aging machine, so many students had been left out. New resources with newer abilities will open up their minds to career opportunities that go beyond the high school experience.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Baca

This classroom project was brought to life by The SONIC Foundation and 4 other donors.
  • Enough Tripods for Everyone

    Funded Jan 19, 2022

Thank you for helping my classroom. This will go VERY FAR to make sure my students can learn whether they're at home or in the classroom. I'm already revising my lessons so we can get to work on creating more awesome audio, video, and photo projects. You made this possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Baca

This classroom project was brought to life by Utah State Board of Education.
  • iPad for Our Pros

    Funded Jan 24, 2020

Thank you so much for your help. I have been so excited about using these tools in my classroom and I can’t wait to get started. This will have such a tremendous impact on my ability to communicate with my students and deliver feedback on their various video and broadcast productions.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Baca

  • Laptops for West Debate

    Funded Oct 16, 2017

These computers have made it possible for my students to use professional resources to achieve success in the speech and debate world. West has always had great debaters, and this includes debaters who are fortunate enough to have all the tools to succeed. Unfortunately, many debaters at our school simply don't have the ability to acquire the basic technology that has become commonplace in this activity.

Immediately upon receiving these laptops my students went to work by involving more debaters and signing up for tournaments. Many of the students you see in these pictures used this equipment to win West's first state championship in years!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Baca

  • Undebatable: Laptops Needed

    Funded Oct 17, 2016

Thank you so much for your contribution to my students. The addition of new laptops has proven to be very impactful in terms of making the event more accessible for students who lack the means to purchase such technology for themselves.

Last weekend we attended a tournament that invited each school to send one participant in each competitive division. The student I chose was worried he wouldn't have a computer to help him compete and prepare. Without hesitation, I checked out a laptop to him and he was on his way. In his first time competing in Lincoln-Douglas debate, he won three rounds. Then the entire team went on to win first place overall. I am confident that this student and this team would not have had this experience without this contribution.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Baca

With 98 students enrolled in debate classes in the school, laptop computers are severely needed so that all students can more fully participate in an activity that depends on being able to perform internet-based research, and fast retrieval of files and evidence. It may seem like computers are unnecessary in debate, an activity generally thought of as a war of words, but where students are compiling vast amounts of research and data to deliver intelligent arguments and writing, computers have become indispensable. Over time, middle school and high school debate has moved away from using large volumes of paper and now research is compiled almost exclusively in electronic formats. While this has its benefits, this has left many kids behind, as access to technology remains difficult for many families. Your donation goes to help a debate class where many students are left struggling with the burden managing paper files and accessing lab computers to prepare speeches. Having a laptop is a game changer for a debate student. Writing becomes easier. Accessing evidence is no longer a contest of looking through folders. And time and energy can be spent in using technology to achieve our educational objectives.
